Job Description

The Lodge Maintenance Engineer is responsible for performing maintenance and repairs, and preventive maintenance to all areas of the hotel to include guest rooms, meeting spaces, and front and back of the house areas.

The Maintenance Engineer performs repairs on mechanical, electrical, kitchen, and laundry equipment, requiring some skill and experience in these areas, as well as great communication skills. The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for ensuring that the Lodge is maintained in the best possible condition at all times with the least amount of inconvenience to guests and employees.
  • Performs repairs and preventative maintenance of electrical components, boilers, chillers, refrigeration systems, air conditioning, plumbing and fixtures.
  • Maintains kitchen and laundry facilities and equipment.
  • Maintains building/guestroom heating and cooling systems.
  • Responsible for painting rooms and hallways.
  • Responds to guest concerns related to repairs within guest rooms.
  • Must be able to work with minimum supervision on assigned tasks.
  • Available nights, weekends, and holidays.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Basic computer experience required.
  • Must have hands on knowledge of building mechanical systems and controls, energy management and building maintenance skills.
  • Basic knowledge of painting, drywall, HVAC and plumbing.
  • General knowledge of machines and power tools.
  • Must be familiar with all safety practices related to all Engineering equipment and its use.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to six months related experience and/or training in mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry and building maintenance; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS 
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, emails, and memos. Ability to write emails. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to guests, vendors, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS 
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, with a calculator. Ability to read a tape measure.

REASONING ABILITY 

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving few concrete variables in standardized situations.

ENVIRONMENT

Works in all areas of the property, both inside and outside possible in inclement weather. Must be able to work at various heights on ladders, roofs, etc.
