Job Description

BASIC FUNCTIONS:  The National Sales Manager is responsible for generating conference business from a local, vertical and national markets, maximization of sales, development of potential markets and sound administration of assigned responsibilities through sensible delegation and personal attention to detail. Manage retail travel advisor accounts and preferred agreements to exceed guest & TA expectations; develop new business opportunities and relationships and to exceed revenue goals as assigned. 


Must have knowledge of a hotel structure and how all departments interact. Must be able to effectively work with a variety of internal and external customers and staff. Must have developed language skills to the point to be able to read newspapers, periodicals, journals, and   manuals Must have basic math skills to prepare cost proposals Write business letters, summaries, and reports, using prescribed format, and conforming to all rules of     punctuation, grammar, diction, and style.  Minimum (2) two years of college, degree desirable. Must be able to travel throughout designated markets Excellent written and oral communication skills. Must have 5 years experience in hotel sales or related industry. Aggressive, outgoing and self-motivating individual with pleasant personality. Previous, extensive leisure sales experience Past hotel experience in a luxury hotel.


Solicits, evaluates, sells and confirms business to exceed overall market segment budgeted sales and profit margin. Conduct site inspections throughout property. Draft proposals, letters, and reports in a timely manner. Contact customers (and their travel advisors) in-house, on a daily basis, to promote good will and foster additional business, repeat bookings and referrals. Maximize revenue by selling all facets of the hotel. Handle account details so all pertinent aspects of solicitation and closing are complete and documented. Collaborate with various departments to ensure flawless execution and participate in solving problems with other departments related to business booked. Travel to feeder markets to conduct outside sales calls, promote the hotel and Travel Advisors to develop new business opportunities Research periodicals, internet, trade journals, and other publications to learn about potential business opportunities. Prepare information for, meet with, and entertain clients/Advisors as deemed appropriate by potential business from that account. Represent Hotel at trade shows as specified. Attend or host hotel events/FAM’s as required. Audit or assist with client billing as required. Work with appropriate Wholesale accounts to deliver incremental wholesale/net rate accounts Assist the support staff with maintenance of sales files and mentor support staff as necessary. Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor.



Perform other related duties as requested by the DOSM. Practice safety standards and report unsafe conditions to the DOSM.
