This position will assist the Senior Tax Manager in UK tax accounting and compliance, including withholding tax compliance and treaty applications.

What will I be doing?

Essential Functions/ Average Time Allocation

40% UK tax compliance

Carry out tax technical analysis of data to enable accurate preparation of corporation tax returns.

Preparation of corporation tax returns for review by Senior Tax Manager.

Provision of technical support to the other business functions.

Deal with HMRC's queries

40% UK Tax accounting

Preparation of tax accounting information as applicable under FRS101, for inclusion in the statutory accounts.

Deal with associated audit issues.

Carry out reconciliation of carried forward balances.

20% Withholding tax

Review UK withholding tax obligations and completion of forms CT61.

Assist with applications for treaty clearance.

Maintain controls of withholding tax suffered for credit/expense relief.

Supportive Functions

In addition to performance of the essential functions, the successful applicant may be required to perform a combination of other supportive functions, as determined by the Senior Tax Manager and Senior Tax Director, based upon the particular requirements of the business.

What are we looking for?

The successful candidate must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job with minimal supervision.

 As solid grounding in UK Corporation Tax is essential

 Excellent technical, analytical and written/verbal communication skills.

 An excellent knowledge of IAS12 accounting for income taxes.

 Experience of international tax, PAYE and VAT is beneficial but not essential

 Fluent in Microsoft Office products, including Excel & Word.

 A working knowledge of PeopleSoft and Alphatax is desirable, but not essential.

Required Qualifications

The successful candidate will be ACA/ACCA/CTA qualified or equivalent with PQE experience. Working in industry and commercial environment is desirable but strong candidates from practice with good accounting background will also be considered.
