ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION
Perform all duties in a professional manner and in accordance with company policies. Flexibility to work a varied schedule due to business levels and industry demand. Oversee laundry staff to ensure all tasks/duties are completed. Follow all safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment Maintain uniform and grooming standards as outlined in employee handbook and departmental training Sort linen by texture, soil, color, and size in the chute room. Sort F&B linen next to washing machine. Loading/unloading washers: a) ability to lift, push, or pull 50 pounds of linen. Loading/unloading dryers: a) ability to lift, push, or pull 50 pounds of wet linen frequently. b) Ability to handle hot linen. Draping wet sheets and tablecloths: a) ability to work with arms extended overhead frequently. Ironing of linen: a) ability to work with high temperatures; b) ability to twist, bend, and reach 72 inches; c) Learn the types of folding and ironing required for all materials; and d) ability to frequently reach 72 inches to put clean linen on shelving. Know proper formulas for each linen type: a) check chemicals daily; b) ability to work with laundry chemicals frequently. a) must be able to twist and turn frequently; b) must be able to use 24-ounce mop. Report and set aside all heavily stained linen for pre-spotting. Clean and polish washers and dryers: a) must be able to use cleaning chemicals; b)must be able to reach 72 inches. Know the different washing programs available at the machines. Do weekly assigned jobs posted in laundry room. Daily monitoring of the message boards located in department. Provide assistance in other job classifications as determined necessary by the immediate superior. Issue replacement uniforms. Fit new employees. Maintain proper uniform stocks/ order replacement uniforms Conduct monthly inventories. Know all jobs in the housekeeping and laundry department and be able to step in as needed. Maintain communication with Human Resources regarding terminated employees. Order supplies for the laundry department. Provide assistance in other job classifications as determined necessary by immediate supervisor.
