Sheraton Suites Key West is seeking an experienced hotel/resort Controller. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and organizational skills, five plus years of hands-on experience in a hotel accounting environment and a strong background in computerized hotel systems, to include front of the house in addition to back office systems. 

This position oversees and trains the accounting and night audit positions.  The Controller works in coordination with and reports to the corporate office on all aspects of hotel accounting, to include general ledger reconciliation, monthly and quarterly sales tax filing, timely monthly financials, balance sheet analysis, and year-end closings as well as all policy, procedure and internal control compliance. This position will work closely with the ownership and the management company of the resort.

A successful candidate will have experience with:

•Staff Supervision

•Budget Preparation

•Accounts Payable

•Accounts Receivable

•Income Audit

•Night Audit

•General Ledger Account Reconciliation

•Ensure property compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley standards

•Financial Statement Preparation

•Tracking and Reconciling Capital Expenditures

•Reconciling Franchise Fees and Account for all Incentive Programs Offered Through the Brand


Preferred credentials and skills include:

•Minimum five years accounting experience in a leadership role.  Hotel experience required.

•Advanced knowledge of payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable and income audit required.

•Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred

•IT Support skills  

•Microsoft Office with a strong proficiency in Excel

•Lightspeed Property Management System experience preferred

•Digital Dining Point of Sale System experience preferred
