Nature of the Job



Basic Purpose & Objective of the Position


The Head of Public Relations must be able operate effectively in a hands-on, team-oriented environment, working closely with the Director of Sales & Marketing.

Main Duties

Customer Services


* Delivers the brand promise and provides exceptional guest service at all times.
* Provides excellent service to internal customers.
* Handles all guest and employee complaints and inquiries in a courteous and efficient manner. Communicates immediately all guest complaints to EAST Host Supervisors or GE Manager.
* Maintains positive guest and colleague interactions with good working relationships.
* Empowers employees to provide excellent customer service. Establishes guidelines so employees understand expectations and parameters. Ensures employees receive on-going training to understand guest expectations.

Financial


* Ensures that all hotel, company and local rules, policies and regulations relating to money handling and licensing are adhered to.

Operational


* Manage the brand PR agencies in the development and execution of a strategic plan
* Set annual metrics of success and drive accountability
* Collaborates with Communications Manager to manage social media and PR blog content
* Spot and leverage consumer trends to improve relevancy of PR program
* Maintain positive relationships with key members of the media as appropriate
* Plan and execute major PR team meetings and events several times a year
* Oversee photo shoots on property and the media events
* Write/edit press materials as needed, including releases, bi-lined stories, talking points, fact sheets, agency training tools and internal correspondence
* Entertains local and international media /bloggers/fam trip guests on property at hotels and restaurants
* Manages all PR firms on roster globally for given applicable restaurants and hotel when appropriate
* Story creation and pitching to targeted publications
* Works closely with the Senior Marketing Manager and Team at CSO to ensure all comms are aligned with Marketing Strategy
* Manages joint promotions and ad-hoc projects with CSO
* Supervises and updates all internal e-communications /promotions
* Manages community partnerships and charitable contribution opportunities
* Attends on and off property events to represent Swire Hotels in the local market
* Ensures all external communication from all restaurants is according to brand standards
* Assists in creating and updating marketing collaterals and websites either on property or via CSO
* Supervises hotel and restaurant photo shoots on property level for example promotions and food shots
* Communicate all Swire Hotels news on a regular basis
* To be spokesperson, point of contact with media and SPL in case of emergency / crisis management

People Development


* Supports Swire Hotels' cultural and people development implementations and characteristics.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience Requirements


* A bachelor's degree in journalism, communications or related field
* Stellar written and verbal communications skills; excellent AP-style journalistic writing and editing practices and strong presentation/public speaking skills
* Familiarity with modern PR tools, strategies and technology that supports the PR function, including use of surveys, media partnerships, bi-lined stories, video, infographics and imagery fulfillment
* Familiarity with social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and other popular or emerging sites and how to leverage them to support the PR function
* Solid understanding of best modern media relations practices; current and verifiable media contacts at national outlets
* Ability and willingness to follow established processes and procedures, and also work fluidly in situations where standard operating procedures do not exist
* Experience managing multiple direct reports with unique skill sets, strengths and talents; experience managing PR agencies
* Experience with international PR a plus
* Knowledge of Spanish preferred
