The Study at University City is currently seeking an experienced and motivated Group Sales Manager to join our team. The Study at University City, featuring our Co-Op Restaurant where local flavor and regional cooking with an emphasis on community, our geography and the social and creative interaction of being together “at the table” come together. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide professional and courteous guest service at all times. Promote a high-quality company image by demonstrating professionalism to both clients and colleagues.
Business Development. Prospect and develop new accounts in line with the hotel's commercial business plan. Solicit accounts within assigned market segment. Maintain aggressive weekly telephone, site inspection and personal call goals. Follow up promptly on leads generated by Online Lead sources and the Convention and Visitors Bureau. Identify and qualify potential prospects through participating in telemarketing, tradeshows, sales blitzes and other sales initiatives. Maximize outcome of all sales initiatives by following up on leads, following up with clients in-house to identify additional business opportunities and aggressively managing accounts.
Sales Goals and Revenue Maximization. Achieve monthly room night booking goals, budgeted room nights, rate and revenues. Become knowledgeable of the subtleties inherent in the market segments and of the role they play in maintaining the profitability of the hotel. Maximize Group revenues wherever possible. Adhere to booking guidelines based on maximizing guest room rate, meeting room rentals and minimum food & beverage revenue.
Communication. Develop and implement sales action plans, maintain transparent communication with clients. Initiate, negotiate, and close group room block contracts. Maintain positive interdepartmental communications needed to communicate group related details to all responsible hotel departments. Excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication skills are vital to effectively negotiate, influence, persuade and sell.
FUNDAMENTALS:
Education: A relevant degree is desirable.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of work experience in hotel sales, a proven advancement record and currently employed in a hotel sales management position.
Must have proven selling, negotiating and presentation skills.
Ability to communicate in both verbal and written form.
Proficient in group forecasting and room block management
Demonstrated ability to understand customer needs, requirements and translating these into sales solutions.
Skilled in the use of computers and software programs associated with sales and catering, such as Delphi, and hotel property management systems.
Experience with CVENT and IDSS preferred
Becomes an active member in the local MPI Chapter
Is current with all market related publications in order to stay on top of all industry trends and uncover any potential leads.
Strong organizational skills including follow up, time management, ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to positively communicate and interact with all hotel departments.
Expect some travel, locally and to other Study hotels.
