Job Description

We are searching for a General Manager at Whistler Village Inn & Suites.  Located in the heart of Whistler Village, this 86 room resort offers a variety of accommodations, self-catering studios and spacious fully appointed loft suites.  Just steps from the lifts, gondolas and excitement, enjoy the year-round heated outdoor pool, hot tubs, saunas and fitness facility.

The General Manager is a leader who can clearly communicate goals and expectations.  This individual will be responsible for the overall condition and appearance of the facility and overseeing hotel operations; planning, implementing and overseeing capital and renovation projects, revenues, guest satisfaction, and leading and coaching employees.   

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operations & Financial

  • Effectively implements hotel and Atlific standards including property condition and cleanliness,   quality of product, service and financial performance.

  • Reviews property operations regularly and ensure Standard Operating Procedures are being reviewed and followed.

  • Creates a strong service culture in the hotel, maximizes GSI and reviewing regularly.

  • Responsible for all aspects of risk management; develop a life safety plan and Emergency Response Team for the hotel and ensures Local, Provincial and Brand compliance with Health and Safety regulations.

  • Ensures the health and safety of all guests and employees.

  • Manages the operational budget up to an approved limit as set forth by the Profit Plan.

  • Directs the annual hotel strategic planning process, operating budget and capital plans.

  • Maximizes NOI through effective execution of sales & marketing plans, GAAP management, customer service and effective cost controls.

Project Management

  • Responsible for planning and implementing hotel related renovations, regular maintenance plans, capital plans and activities as required to maintain and upgrade quality standards and protect the asset from neglect, damage or deterioration and keeping the stakeholders informed on a regular basis.

  • Monitors the progress of the projects making adjustments as necessary, and reviews the quality of the completed work on a regular basis. 

  • Develops the scope, objectives and budgets for all projects and ensures they are completed on time and within budget.

Human Resources

  • Creates a strong service culture in the hotel and maximizes Guest Satisfaction Index.

  • Hires and supervises team;  with performance management experience.

  • Maximizes ESS through strong leadership and effective practices.

  • Participates in applicable hotel and corporate training programs.

  • Participates in community affairs and events while maintaining a positive public image for the Hotel and Atlific.

  • Leverages relationships and resources with area hotels, owners, regional and corporate offices.

  • Ensures the health and safety of all Guests and Employees.

  • Ensures Local, Provincial and Brand compliance with Health and Safety regulations.

 

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 4 years’ hotel management preferably in destination resort segment.

  • Demonstrated experience with facility operation and management.

  • Experience working with, or in strata environment considered an asset.

  • Proven leader and excellent communicator with experience in motivating, coaching & training.

  • Experience with developing business plans and financial budgets.

  • Ability to identify priorities and plans/organizes responsibility.

  • Good computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
