SilverBirch Hotels & Resorts is one of Canada's leading hotel management companies and manages a large portfolio of full-service, focused service and extended stay hotels across Canada. The company manages independent hotels and hotels operating under major franchise brands, such as Marriott, Hilton and Radisson.

We are looking for a full time General Manager at the Radisson Hotel Edmonton South in Edmonton Alberta.

Reporting to the Vice-President of Operations,  the General Manager will have overall accountability for budgeting & financial management, planning and directing all hotel services.   While taking a strategic overview to maximize profits, this position must set the example to deliver a SilverBirch Hotels & Resorts standard of service that exceeds guests’ expectations.

The General Manager is a strategic thinker who provides clear, concise direction to the hotel and food & beverage teams.  Utilizing strong interpersonal skills the General Manager is the champion in all matters related to associate engagement. The General Manager will achieve desired outcomes through the alignment of operational and organizational strategies and as a senior leader possess an exceptional track record for bringing about positive change in a winning environment. The General Manager will excel in change management, facilitation and possess exceptional people management skills allowing for the delivery of operational excellence.    

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Direct the annual hotel strategic planning process, operating budget and annual Marketing and Capital plans.
  • Maximize NOI through effective execution of sales and marketing plans, revenue management, customer service and effective cost controls.
  • Identify marketing/sales needs and develops short and long term strategies to meet changing needs of hotel.
  • Anticipate business trends and seasonality, effectively maximizing both revenue and cost containment opportunities as they present themselves.
  • Create a strong service and operational excellence culture.
  • Promote inter-departmental synergy to improve overall guest satisfaction.
  • Maximize associate satisfaction through strong leadership and the utilization of SilverBirch Hotels & Resorts Human Resources policies and practices.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

 

 

Preferred Education & Qualifications:

  • Certificate/Diploma/Degree or equivalent education in Hospitality or Hotel Management.
  • Knowledge of Rooms Department Operations as well as extensive experience in Food & Beverage required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of senior level management experience; Hotel and/or Restaurant experience critical.
  • Possess a strong knowledge of Gross Operating Profit (GOP), Net Operating Income (NOI) and forecasting.
  • Proven leadership abilities in the hospitality industry; seasoned coach and mentor.
  • Passionate in the development of our people.
  • Ability to maximize revenue & profit and skilled in Hotel/Restaurant operations.
  • Proven experience with forecasting, budgeting and capital plans.
  • Must be able to balance team and individual responsibilities; exhibit objectivity and openness to others’ views; give and welcome feedback.
  • Strong leadership and facilitation skills – demonstrated ability to lead and/or influence others in order to have a specific impact or effect.
  • Ability to set priorities, plan, organize, delegate, control and inspire.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Energetic, reliable, flexible and hands on individual who works well under pressure, in a team environment.
  • Understands the nature of the hotel/restaurant industry.
  • Demonstrated broad business knowledge and organizational awareness.
  • Experience with POS system.
  • Competent knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

 

Working Conditions:

  • Normal office working conditions.
  • Fast paced environment that is often demanding.
  • Stand, walk and remain on feet all day on some occasions depending on business levels.
  • Lifting of supplies, material/collateral.
  • Sometimes outdoors for property walkthroughs
  • Intermittent business travel as required.
