Job Description

Job Purpose

The purpose of the General Cashier is to prepare and make accurate cash deposits, and handle cash transactions for departmental needs.  In addition, an Inventory Auditor job involves continuous accuracy check of perpetual inventory stock quantity records for material control and accounting purposes.

The purpose of the Inventory Auditor is to ensure the accuracy of the inventories, investigates discrepancies, locates error sources from inventories, and initiates corrective actions.

Essential Job Functions

General Cashier:

• Follow all specified procedures to properly handle cash and document cash transactions, including processing due backs, making change for all specified banks, verifying and processing daily deposits and drops, processing armored car pick up sheets, completing daily cash reconciliation sheets and reconciling cash in safe on a daily basis.

• Investigate, document, and reconcile cash overages and shortages reported on cash reconciliation forms.

• Issue and receive house banks and special banks as needed and verify the accuracy of all banks received.

• Monthly update the house bank report and reconcile to the General Ledger.

• Conduct monthly audits of all cashier banks.

• Maintain adequate cash level to accommodate Hotel business needs.

• Follow all specified procedures to reconcile the credit cards on a daily basis, resolving and discrepancies, and submitting charges for payment.

• Audit all deposits, consolidate deposits and prepare bank deposit slips.

• Keep sufficient supply of cash and change on hand.

• Open drop safe and remove contents pertaining to the daily work being processed with a witness.

• Audit and verify all deposits for amount and proper procedural processing. Prepare a daily discrepancy report including cash discrepancies as well as procedure violations.

• Consolidate all deposits and prepare deposit for transfer to bank.

• Ensure that deposits are picked up on a regular schedule by the security company.

• Prepare daily over and short reconciliation by cashier and email to respective department heads.

• Follow-up all cashier overages and shortages.

• Maintain a sufficient supply of cash on hand. Provide change to cashiers during normal operating hours.

• Check all petty cash vouchers/advances for proper approval before giving out cash.

• Reimburse cashier due back and verify due back report.

• Verify the safe count at the end of each week with the Controller once a month.

• Prepare and research credit card compliance in regards to chargebacks and fraud analysis.

• Call Accounting Analysis.

• Credit Card reconciliation.

• Review and research negative postings, refunds, credited credit cards, and adjustments.

Inventory Auditor:

• Verify the safe count at the end of each week with the Controller once a month.

• Conduct Month-End Inventories with Management.

• Conduct audits through the use of proprietary computer technology and equipment.

• Compare/analyze resulting inventory data.

• Knowledge of liquor, beer, wine and food products.

• Advising Management on inventory/accounting problems and recommend improvements to the system.

• Monitoring and ensuring all inventory transactions, errors, and reports form part of responsibilities.

• Update monthly pricing for each items on the inventories.

Job Requirements


College degree preferred; High School Diploma and/or 2-3 years’ experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.  Knowledge of general accounting background.  Proficiency in MS Excel and Word. Excellent communication and organizational skills.
