The Westin Bristol Place, Toronto Airport Hotel is currently hiring two (2) Full-Time Food & Beverage Supervisors. The successful candidate(s) will be working closely with both Banquets and F&B Outlets. The F&B Supervisor is responsible for assisting with the planning and managing of the Restaurant & Bar, Room Service and other food and beverage outlets; and for facilitating banquet function and meeting in order to achieve customer satisfaction and quality service.

Job Requirements:


  • Open and close shift in accordance with manager’s checklist.
  • Initiate aggressive guest interaction through seeking and soliciting feedback from guests.
  • Train, maintain and enforce all service standards using use records, menus and appropriate reference materials.
  • Properly execute revenue and check control procedures on shift.
  • Handle daily associate relations (e.g., scheduling, time adjustments).
  • Maintain a safe and sanitary work environment for all associates and guests.
  • Gather and implement all proper tools for running shift, (e.g., schedules, floor plans, reservations, checks).
  • Find solutions for problems such as call outs, last minute bookings or any other daily problems that may arise.
  • During shift, ensure that guests are satisfied by assisting with serving, seating, communication with kitchen and by striving to speak to all guests.
  • Be on the floor during entire meal classes and ensure adequate coverage.
  • Conduct taste panels and menu classes on a daily basis for restaurant.
  • Ensure that only a quality product is being served.
  • Monitor hours and staffing on a daily basis, for restaurant, with accurate scheduling in line with forecast and budget guidelines.
  • Ensure all side work is done on daily basis.
  • Maintain proper associate uniform standards.
  • Manage an effective repair and maintenance program through the use of work orders, inspections, etc.
  • Assist any associate in his/her job performance, when required, to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Understand and teach empowerment principles to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Exercise station rotation to ensure stations are distributed fairly.


  • Implement an effective training program for new and current associates using use records, menus and appropriate reference manuals.
  • Encourage problem solving by associates through proper training and empowerment.
  • Establish effective communication with associates to gain their trust and respect.
  • Maintain fair and consistent counseling and/or disciplinary procedures in accordance with the Collective Agreement
  • Attend restaurant associate meetings.
  • Demonstrate positive inter-departmental relations.


  • Communicative directly, and/or through the use of the daily log and email, to next shift supervisor.
  • Identify and recommend incentive programs, new ideas and methods of operation.
  • Implement and follow through on all bookings of restaurant parties, room service hospitality suites and banquet rooms and effectively communicate to all managers.
  • Assist in the development and execution of the marketing plan of assigned outlets

Skills and Abilities Required:

  • More than two years of post-high school education, but less that a degree from a four year college.
  • Two to three full years of full employment in a related position with this company or other organization(s)
  • Requires thorough knowledge of the restaurant/hotel practices and procedures in order to perform non-repetitive analytical work.
  • May require knowledge of policies and procedures and the ability to determine course of action based on these guidelines.
  • Supervision/management communication skills are required.
  • Requires ability to investigate logical conclusions and recommendations.
  • Ability to make occasional decisions which are generally guided by established policy and procedures.

Unionized Position:  Non-Unionized

Rate of Pay and Work Schedule:  Salaried position

Must be able to work various shifts including: mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends and/or holidays
