Through consistent application of Shangri-La’s core practices, personal presence and shift supervision of Food & Beverage Associates, ensure the highest quality standards of the F&B operation in the hotel; maximizing the balance between Associate, Guest and Owner satisfaction. The Management Trainee will spend time in various areas within the Food & Beverage Division and will be placed into a permanent assignment after twelve (12) months.

  • Learn more about the operations and leadership of the various of the Food & Beverage outlets.

  • With high integrity, provide the highest quality 5 diamond/5 star experience to guests and lead Associates in providing Shangri-La hospitality from caring people

  • Through personal presence, style and personality, inspires a high level of hospitality, personal commitment to service excellence and an emotional sense of true hospitality

  • Supervise Associates and effectively coach, train, organize, shift, motivate, communicate and recognize, as appropriate per shift

  • Works with Associates and maintains hands-on involvement in all areas of F&B, rotating throughout each shift to where the need is greatest, as required

  • Ensures compliance to all hotel policies, standards and core practices

  • Check and maintain F&B room ambiance, style, music and overall presentation

  • Builds positive relationships, maintain expert knowledge of wines and other beverages and up-to-date knowledge of local restaurants, lounges, food trends and industry practices

  • Verify standards of cleanliness, maintenance and presentation plus safety of all F&B areas of the hotel through inspections and ensures areas of deficiency are resolved to achieve service expectations

  • As true service Ambassadors, represent the “face of Shangri-La Vancouver,” and interact with guests to meet service expectations proactively at first point of customer contact

  • Participate in communication efforts within the department, ensuring effective communication amongst Associates, attendance at meetings and ensure that reports are completed accurately, on-time

  • Undertake other ad hoc related responsibilities, as required

  • Minimum 2 years previous work experience preferably in a leadership/supervisory capacity within an international world-class hotel brand, or comparable experience with key competitor

  • Degree or diploma in Food and Beverage/Hospitality Management (completed or in-progress)

  • Required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays
