Job Description
Responsibilities
  • Must have an understanding of monthly forecasting.
  • Understand the importance of raising the meeting planner evaluation scores and implement effective methods to ensure exceeding meeting planner satisfaction.
  • Optimize room rental charges.
  • Knowledge of sales techniques including strong closing skills as well as negotiating skills.
  • Prospect for new business, participate in sales blitzes, cold calling and contacting former clients to solicit new business and attend industry events programs as needed.
  • Detail events to include all food beverage, set up and audio visual needs. This includes, asking appropriate questions of the clients and making suggestions to ensure the details meet the group and the hotel’s needs.
  • Create contracts and other related booking documentation as required. Manage and maintain client account files.
  • Conduct hotel site inspections and client presentations.
  • Excellent creative skills to provide innovative set-ups, menus, and functions for groups. Ability to generate creative and innovative menus while working closely with Chef on pricing specialty menus.
  • Work closely with banquet and culinary departments on operations and execution. Ability to quickly evaluate alternatives and decide on a plan of action.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships
  • Provide overall direction, coordination, and ongoing evaluation of operations. Detailed execution of all banquet event orders generated.
  • Monitor group room blocks and pick up, generate detailed resumes and communicate client needs to all of the departments within the hotel.
  • Ability to work with outside vendors to ensure client satisfaction for all events/groups.
  • Perform any other job related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Qualifications
  • Prior experience in the field of hospitality with specific experience in catering sales is essential.
  • 1+ year within the Hospitality Industry required.
  • High School Diploma required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of sales skills, revenue management, training, and motivation of peers.
  • Knowledge of hotel structure, how departments interact, benefits, and competing hotels within the market.
  • Ability to execute appropriate action plans.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with customers in a friendly and positive manner, in order to solicit business, meet client needs and resolve complaints.
  • Knowledge of hotel operations, including marketing plans, security and safety programs, personnel and labor relations, preparation of business plans, repairs, maintenance, budget forecasting, quality assurance programs, and long-range planning.
  • Ability to work effectively under time constraints and deadlines.
  • Command of the English language both written and verbal.
  • Excellent knowledge of computers, specifically ISAC, Word and Excel.
