The Residence Inn, Moncton is a 133-suite extended stay hotel offering suites with 750 sq. ft. of meeting space, fully equipped kitchens in every suite, a complimentary hot breakfast buffet, indoor pool, fitness room and its own parking garage. The hotel is ideally located in downtown Moncton, New Brunswick, close to the University of Moncton, Blue Cross, Rodgers and only a 15 minute drive from the Greater Moncton Airport. The Director of Sales / Sales Manager is responsible for directing, coordinating and supervising all sales office personnel in all sales related activities, including direct sales efforts, follow-up and proper sales administration. The successful incumbent will generate new business for all market segments and grow accounts.



  • Compile and/or direct the preparation of reports pertaining to the operation of the Sales Department to include, but not limited to the annual and monthly Forecast, Marketing Budget, Lead Management System, Booking Report, and star reports.

  • Coordinate ongoing research of the travel industry to detect market trends and related information for development of new marketing strategies. Make reasonable recommendations to improve potential from various markets.

  • Develop and conduct persuasive verbal sales presentations to prospective clients. Internally promote Residence Inn programs.

  • Meet with and entertain clients some of which will require travel.

  • Communicate both verbally and in writing to provide clear direction to the associates within the hotel..

  • Initiate preparation of computerized annual Sales & marketing plan and execute plans as outlined, critically examining and adjusting as deemed necessary by current market conditions.

  • Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.

  • Perform any other job related duties as assigned.



  • Degree in Hotel Management or related field required.

  • At least 3 years of progressive experience in a hotel or a related field

  • Must have the ability to communicate in English. Bilingual (English/French) preferred.

  • Previous supervisory experience required.

  • Self-starting personality with an even disposition.

  • Maintain a professional appearance and manner at all time.

  • Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, service oriented manner.

  • Must be willing to “pitch-in” and help co-workers with their job duties and be a team player within the hotel.

  • Knowledge of travel industry, current market trends and economic factors.

  • Conduct competitive market research.

  • Extensive skill in development and delivery of sales presentations.

  • Ability to access, understand and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system.

  • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers and associates in a friendly, service oriented manner. Some interactions will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy in order  collect accurate information and resolve conflicts.

  • Ability to stand and move throughout the hotel property and continuously perform essential job functions.

  • Comply at all times with New Castle standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.


Must have a valid driver's license and vehicle.
