The Le Meridien Houston consist of 255 first class guest rooms and suites, a popular food and beverage venue, and over 8,000 feet of incredible, flexible meeting space. The Le Meridien Houston opened the 3rd quarter of 2017 and is a premier, flagship property in downtown Houston.
We are searching for an experienced Director of Sales and Marketing to oversee the total sales and marketing efforts for this grand property and to lead the hotel to many years of success.
Job Description:
The Director of Sales is responsible for coaching, developing, and managing the sales team to perform to their highest level. The Director of Sales is primarily responsible for identifying prospective clients, developing those prospects into actual clients and maintaining client relations at the highest levels. The Director of Sales will have revenue and sales activity goals that will align with local and company sales strategies as well as manage and assist local Sales Managers achieve their personal sales goals. The Director of Sales is a true player/ coach and will lead by example and set the pace for the team. Working with corporate and senior leadership, the Director of Sales will act as a sales leader and is primarily responsible for revenue at the property. The position requires a self-motivating individual who quickly understands the business and can present a unique hospitality solution in a growing market. The DOS will assist in creating strategies for market mix, pricing, direct sales, RFP process, and the overall market positioning for the hotel.
We are searching for the Best of the Best “A” Player to fill this position.
A minimum of 5 years sales management experience preferably in a upper/upscale luxury setting
Previous Marriott/Starwood experience preferred
College degree preferred
Excellent verbal, written, and computer skills
Experienced in reputation management
Experienced in understanding and utilizing industry metrics such as Smith Travel, Hotelligence and other similar data.
Strong leadership and revenue focused hotel experience
A strong overall understanding of the hotel business
Strong decision making skills
Strong organizational skills
Experience in training, developing, and managing team members
Ability to develop and execute strategic sales and marketing plans
Actively solicits key accounts to generate direct sales
Ability to manage all sales and marketing expenses while exceeding all revenue and REVPAR goals
A history of developing strong internal and customer relations
Cool under pressure
Effectively copes with change
Revenue focused and understands that REVPAR premiums are the ultimate measurement of revenue success
A leader who loves to sell
Creative
Directs and monitors reports pertaining to the operation of the Sales Team

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to sit at a desk for up to 5 hours per day.
Walking and standing are required the rest of the working day. This includes traveling to and from meetings. Duration of these tasks may vary from day to day and task to task.
Must be able to exert well-paced ability to maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously.
Must be able to exert well-paced ability to reach other departments of the hotel on a timely basis.
Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs. occasionally.
Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees.
Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
Must have finger dexterity to be able to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, multi-line touch tone phone, filing cabinets, photocopiers, and other office equipment as needed.
