Why Us Sage Hospitality is set to hire an accomplished Director of Engineering to be a part of the transformation of the Doubletree Washington DC Hotel on Rhode Island Avenue NW to the first Curio Collection by Hilton in the heart of the Nation’s Capital. The hotel has been selected to be part of the Hilton's new luxury-lifestyle hotel collection, Curio. Our 226 room hotel with 7,500 square feet of meeting space including outdoor space ideal for the travelers to enjoy our modern and sophisticated design, explore our iconic neighborhood and enjoy the food and beverage options in the hotel. Our restaurant will feature the cuisine of a well-known, locally acclaimed chef and will be a destination for both hotel guests and locals alike.
We are in walking distance to the White House, the Historic P Street Corridor, DuPont Circle, the Metro, many dining options, shopping and the best that the Nation's capital has to offer. The Curio Hotel Washington DC opens in spring 2017.
This role will report directly to the General Manager of the Curio by Hilton as well as partnering with a strong executive leadership team that take pride in excellence and is a great steward of the property.
Your success will be measured by your ability to:
•Successfully create and implement preventive maintenance programs
•Lead, train and develop an eager engineering team
•Manage multiple projects at a time, completing on time and within budget
The ideal candidate has a proven track record as Director of Engineering or Assistant Director of Engineering in a full service hotel environment, has strong project management skills, can work in a strategic or tactical capacities simultaneously, and extensive success as a leader who can effectively provide guidance at all levels within the property.

The Director of Engineering assists in the safe, efficient maintenance and operation of the hotels physical structure. Demonstrates great leadership skills in managing associates and ensuring the safety of guests. Supervises the implementation of all property and equipment preventive maintenance, repairs, monitor life safety systems and utilities. Ensures compliance with all hotel brand standards, local, state and federal codes and regulations to protect hotel assets. Develops short and long term strategies of the engineering division. Develop the department's budget, capital expenditures and manages expenses within approved budget constraints.

General plumbing, refrigeration, air conditioning, electrical systems, boilers, bathroom fixtures and tiling,
painting – prep to finish, basic carpentry, groundskeeper. Requires advanced knowledge of building management/engineering.
Requires analyzing activities and/or information involving some original data manipulation or interpretation to arrive at logical conclusions.
Excellent hearing required to communicate with management and staff.
Excellent vision required to visually check hotel premises.
Excellent speech communication skills required to communicate with management and staff.
Excellent comprehension and literacy required for procedures, reports, budgets, instructions
Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling and carrying of weights up to 25 lbs. and occasionally greater, for all hotel equipment and machinery. 50-75% of job function.
Frequent bending and/or kneeling throughout the day for repairs and maintenance of hotel property, equipment and machinery. 50% of job function.
Mobility - throughout the hotel, all floors, varying heights and distances. Use of ladders and lifts required at times. Generally 75-80% of job function.
Continuous standing required in varying degrees throughout the day.
Climbing stairs up to approximately 210 steps 5% of each day.
Driving - limited driving on an occasional basis for supplies, equipment, etc. Generally within 20 miles.
More than two years of post high school education
Experience required by position is from four to five years of employment in a related position with this company or other organization(s).
Chemicals/Agents used: Water treatments, cleaning, degreasers, coil cleaners, paint thinners, gasoline.
Protective clothing: Facemask (chemical testing), goggles, rubber gloves, welding shield worn approximately 1%.
Power, hand tools (i.e. circular saw, drill).
Work inside 95% of week; outside 5% of week. Abnormal temperatures - walk-in freezers - below 32 degrees, 1% of the time.
