Hilton is currently recruiting and hiring for a Director, Hotel Accounting. Depending on time of this hire, the successful candidate may be employed by a Hilton entity on an interim basis, but Hilton anticipates that, at some point this year, this position will become a part of Park Hotels & Resorts Inc. (or one of its subsidiaries), an entity that will be spun off from Hilton as an independent, public company real estate investment trust.

The Director, Hotel Accounting is responsible for establishing and leading the accounting function for the company's hotel portfolio. This involves owning the relationships with hotel finance teams and ensuring ownership and statutory reporting is completed in accordance with accounting pronouncements and legal agreements for these hotels.
What will I be doing?

The Director is responsible for monitoring status and completion of all tasks, ensuring timely completion in accordance with established deadlines, and reporting to accounting leadership and other internal and external parties. Providing direction and developing all team members to perform at their highest level of potential is also a critical responsibility of the Director.

* Establish procedures and processes in relation to all aspects of hotel accounting and executes strategies and directions for hotel accounting, evaluating efforts to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of the organization
* Manage the cross-functional links between hotel accounting and other departments (Legal, Tax, Asset Management)
* Own the relationships with the hotel finance team, including that of third party managers. Directs the accounting activities of both hotel ownership and operating activity, including proper recording of fees, working capital, intercompany leases and fixed assets
* Direct accounting activities for the company's joint ventures
* Direct the implementation and maintenance of accounting internal control policies and procedures to ensure the internal control environment is maintained for all aspects of hotel accounting and provides supporting documentation to internal and external auditors regarding completion of control procedures
* Coordinate with internal and external auditors to provide requested documentation supporting accounting transactions
* Disseminate, organize and communicate regarding assignments and projects within the department and with senior leaders/constituents from other departments
* Implement and manage team goals to ensure strategies and directives of department are carried out and in accordance with department and company objectives
* Mentor and develop all team members

What are we looking for?

To fulfill this role successfully, you must possess the following minimum qualifications and experience:

  • BA/BS/Bachelor's Degree
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in Finance and Accounting working in a corporate accounting environment or public accounting experience
  • A minimum of four (4) years of experience in leading a team and strong management skills and leading longer term projects
  • A minimum of two (2) years of hospitality industry and/or real estate investment trust experience
  • Ability to travel 10% of the time, including internationally
It would be advantageous in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:
  • MS/MA/Master's Degree
  • CPA
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in Finance and Accounting working in a corporate accounting environment or public accounting experience
  • A minimum of six (6) years of experience in leading a team and strong management skills and leading longer term projects
  • A minimum of five (5) years of hospitality industry and/or real estate investment trust experience
  • Experience working in an accounting environment using PeopleSoft and/or Hyperion Financial Management
  • Experience establishing an accounting organization
  • Experience in joint venture accounting
  • Ability to travel 25% of the time, including internationally
