Four Points by Sheraton Bellingham Hotel and Conference Center, the largest, newly-renovated convention venue in downtown Bellingham, seeks a Corporate sales manager, who will focus on business development and relationship building in the corporate markets. Marriott or Starwood experience is a plus. Hotel experience is required.
The position requires a high-energy, positive, self-motivated individual with excellent verbal and written communication, innovative sales techniques, strong closing skills and a team player. Generate incremental revenue for the hotel through the solicitation of new accounts; nurture existing relationships and drive revenue growth of existing accounts.
The candidate will be responsible for conducting internet research, telephone and email prospecting to generate group bookings, setting and making outside appointments, qualifying contacts made, scheduling and conducting hotel tours, client entertainment, Starwood database documentation, report preparation, attendance at networking events, participation in industry association activity to source new business prospects.
The Sales Manager will prepare proposals and bids, negotiate and prepare contracts and general business correspondence.The Sales Manager must have excellent attention to detail and accuracy, good time management skills and a strong ability to multi-task and prioritize.
Conduct weekly sales calls in concert with assigned market segments and annual marketing plan.
Complete weekly sales reports mirroring outside sales activity.
Attend regional and national trade shows assigned within the annual sales and marketing plan.
Conduct site inspections with clients and potential groups to win client business
Rework and maintain old account files and solicit new accounts through leads and cold calls.
Respond to all correspondence from assigned areas and trace dates for reworking and follow up.
Attend meetings, seminars and functions through membership in associations, Chamber, Tourism and Social Clubs to gain business and build relationships with the property.
Perform general office duties and assist other personnel, as required.
Maintain a constant contact with assigned market segment meeting planners, groups contacts and contacts in hotel industry associations.
Maintain a working relationship with departments interacting with convention groups at the property level to improve communication.
Develop new accounts by being inquisitive of all business opportunities with current clients and their business relationships.
Stay abreast of industry trends and make recommendations of changes which would affect sales efforts.
Maintain accurate forecast and recap information.
