The 575 sq m Grand Ballroom, 390 sq m Junior Ballroom and six other function rooms, with a combined 285 sq m floor space, are ideal for any kind of corporate or celebratory event, including conventions, board meetings, product launches, seminars, break-out sessions, theme parties, birthdays, anniversaries and weddings.

To strengthen our team, we are looking for:

Conference & Banquet - Captain

Position Objective: for you to bring your previous
experience to our Conference & Banqueting service team to ensure a high
quality, consistent and personalized experience for all our guests and patrons
thereby contributing to and supporting the reputation of our hotel. This
position will also lead you to developing towards supervisory levels.

Summary of Responsibilities:

* The ability to set up banquet rooms with equipment for functions according to contracts received from the Catering department. Ensure that all function rooms are set as required in a timely fashion.
* The ability to clean function rooms and adjacent public areas including, but not exclusive to, vacuuming, dusting, shampooing of carpets, cleaning mirrors, marble, sand urns, etc.
* The ability to provide any additional banquet equipment: i.e., tables, chairs, white boards, flipcharts, etc. for function rooms or for set‑ups in guest rooms.
* The ability to retrieve meeting materials, props, crates, boxes, etc. from the receiving dock and store them safely and properly ensuring to log them where appropriate.
* The ability to ensure the cleanliness and orderliness of all storage rooms.
* The ability to keep linen regularly stocked and to take dirty linen to the laundry area. Ensure that linen par stock is maintained.


We are looking for a well organized and creative candidate with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, who is able to display a “passion for perfection” and work in a dynamic environment. In addition, the candidate should possess:

· Previous service experience an asset

· Previous point of sale system experience an asset, but not required

· Excellent communication and organizational skills

· Highly responsible & reliable

· Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment

· Ability to work cohesively with fellow colleagues as part of a team

· Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times

Physical Aspects of Position: (only for colleague level up to supervisor)

Physical aspects of the position include but are not limited to the following:
• Constant standing and walking throughout shift
• Frequent lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs
• Occasional kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting
• Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps
