Job Description


University Inn DC is actively seeking to hire a very strong, exceptionally knowledgeable, energetic and highly experienced Chief Engineer to join our outrageous executive team for an upscale boutique hotel in the fabulous area of Foggy Bottom in Washington DC.

The Chief Engineer is to administer, direct and control the operation of the Engineering department. Responsible for maintaining a safe, appealing and efficient physical plant. Responsible for direction of all department associates in the Engineering department.

 

Job Requirements


Duties and Responsibilities will include;

Oversee and Manage all aspects of facilities management to ensure safety and security of guests and team members. Must have extensive knowledge and experience to ensure operations and facilities are fully functioning for excellent guest experience.

Must be able to effectively lead teams creating strong morale and fostering open dialog.

Proven leadership skills

Requires advanced knowledge of building management/ engineering.
Understand and operate advanced electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, HVAC and boiler systems.
Stand and walk for long periods of time.
Move fingers, arms and hands quickly and easily to handle test equipment, hand tools, keys, etc.
Learn new tasks.
Train associates in the Engineering Department.
Read and understand test equipment and measuring devices.
Read and understand blueprints, schematic drawings and technical parts breakdown.
Write technical specifications.
Plan and conduct monthly meetings.
Prepare operating budgets.
Use mathematical formulas to calculate technical requirements.

5 years or more of progressive Hotel engineering management experience

Experience in a union environment is preferred, but not required
