Job Description

Catering Manager (Sales-645) - Marriott West St. Louis

We are seeking an experienced and ambitious Catering Sales Manager for an opening at The St. Louis Marriott West Hotel.The Catering Sales Manager is responsible for proactively soliciting and managing catering-related opportunities. Actively up-sells each business opportunity to maximize revenue opportunity. Achieves personal and team related revenue goals. Ensures business is turned over properly and in a timely fashion for proper service delivery. Responsible for driving customer loyalty by delivering service excellence throughout each customer experience.Sales and Marketing Leadership- Manage the sales efforts for the hotel to include catering sales goal.-Work collaboratively with off-property sales channels to ensure sales efforts are coordinated, complementary and not duplicative.- Respond to incoming room and catering opportunities for the hotel. Identify, qualify and solicit new business to achieve personal and hotel revenue goals.- Understand the overall market - competitors' strengths and weaknesses, economic trends, supply and demand etc. and know how to sell against them.- Close the best opportunities for the hotel based on market conditions and hotel needs.- Use negotiating skills and creative selling abilities to close on business and negotiate contracts.- Perform other duties, as assigned, to meet business needs.Experience selling to a variety of market segments for catering sales.- Actively participate in related organizations.- Thorough knowledge of sales techniques.- Enjoy asking for business and closing sales.- Aggressively pursue new accounts on a weekly basis.- Maximize yield.- Track record developing long term business relationships.- Maintain consistent verbal and written communication with clients.- Make onsite and field presentations to prospective clients.- Work effectively with Rooms, Catering, Conference/Convention Services, and Banquet Departments.- Participate in local community to develop business.- Attend trade shows and participate in sales blitzes for both room & catering sales.- Excellent phone sales skills.- Consistently meet or exceed sales goals.- Enjoy a team sales approach.- Desire recognition and compensation based on personal sales production.- Strong background in sales.

Must possess outstanding communication skills and the ability to negotiate, convince, sell and influence professionals and/or hotel guests.Position requires two years hotel sales and catering sales experience and a thorough knowledge of the practices and procedures of the catering, food & beverage and Hospitality professions.
