Job Description

Position Description:

The Catering Sales Manager is responsible for handling banquet and/or local social catering opportunities for the property.The incumbent is responsible for contracting, closing banquet and/or local catering and social business, and ensure that business is turned over properly and in a timely fashion for quality service delivery. The position is responsible for achieving and exceeding the hotel catering sales revenue goals by actively up-selling each business opportunity to maximize revenue. Additionally, this position is responsible for managing convention services of rooms and events related to Group business to ensure a high degree of customer satisfaction, generate increased revenues, expand market share and nurture return business

Principle Responsibilities:

Participate in the required company standard meetings, including but not limited to daily sales/operations stand up meeting, daily operations meeting, daily business review meeting, weekly Banquet Event Order meetings, pre/post-convention meetings, weekly one-on-one with each sales manager, and weekly staff/Executive Committee meeting.

Respond to incoming social catering business opportunities for the hotel. Identify, qualify and solicit new catering business to achieve personal and hotel revenue goals.

*

Understand the overall market - competitors’ strengths and weaknesses, economic trends, supply and demand etc. and know how to sell against them.

*

Conduct outside sales calls to cultivate existing customers and accounts and develop new business.

*

Close the best opportunities for the hotel based on market conditions and hotel needs.

*

Engage negotiating skills and creative selling abilities to close on business and negotiate contracts.

*

Design, develop and sell creative catered events.

*

Maximize revenue by up-selling packages and creative food and beverage offerings.

*

Gain understanding of the hotel’s primary target customer and service expectations; serve the customer by understanding their business, business issues and concerns, to offer better business solution both prior to, and during the program/event.

*

The primary responsibility is to be the onsite contact (hotel liaison) for all assigned groups. Work with the customer to produce Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and Convention Resumes. Ensure that all special arrangements - Food and Beverage, Audio Visual, miscellaneous items and other requests are properly documented on BEO’s and signed by the authorized representative for the group or event.

Establish a close working relationship with the hotel operation teams to ensure execution of strategies at the hotel level.

Ensure Marriott and Atrium Hospitality quality standards, customer service and guest satisfaction are achieved.

*

Adhere to standard response times to: telephone inquiries, proposals, booking confirmations, follow up correspondence, meeting room diagrams, etc.

*

Maintain an effective account and booking trace system to ensure that all sales call, solicitation and follow up activities are in order.

*

Understand and use Marriott Brand sales initiatives, tools and resources.

*

Aggressively pursue all appropriate opportunities within designated market segments including: Outside Sales Calls, Civic Association Events, Trade Events, Industry Vendor Relationships, etc.

*

Conduct hotel tours and entertain qualified clients in accordance with the company and property policies.

*

Actively participate in local community events in association with the hotel, via approved memberships in organizations.

*

Submit required reports as directed by the Director of Sales. Analyze data for trends, corrective action, rate maximization, etc.

*

Contribute and work as a "team" member in all facets of the position.

*

Perform other services and duties as requested by the Director of Sales.

*

Offer Pre- and Post- Convention Meetings providing the customer the ability to communicate with the hotel teams on meeting and attendee expectations and service level standards
