Scheduled to open in the fall of 2016, the DoubleTree will be one of the largest hotels in Times Square. The 37-story, 200,000-square-foot new-build hotel is located on the southern edge of Times Square in the Broadway Theater District. The Javits Convention Center and the city-within-a-city Hudson Yards are nearby. The DoubleTrees location in Manhattan is arguably the epicenter of tourism and visitation in the city.

JOB OVERVIEW

The development and solicitation of business from the Business Traveler Market to ensure the necessary advance bookings needed for a successful and profitable operation for the hotel.

REPORT TO Director of Sales and Marketing

Direct the solicitation efforts of the business traveler sales staff through effective oral and written communication while overseeing rate, date and space commitments for group room sales within the hotel.

Interview, hire, train, recommend performance evaluations, resolve problems, provide open communication and recommend discipline andor termination when appropriate.

Ensure training programs are conducted regularly and Crescent standards of performance are met. Give guidance and counsel staff toward improvement.

Compile andor direct the preparation of reports pertaining to the operation of business traveler sales to include, but not limited to the annual and monthly Forecast, Marketing Budget, Lead Management System, Booking Report, star reports and Sales Meeting minutes.

Coordinate ongoing research of the travel industry to detect market trends and related information for development of new business traveler marketing strategies.

Develop and conduct persuasive verbal sales presentations to prospective clients. Internally promote Crescent programs.

Meet with and entertain clients some of which will require travel.

Communicate both verbally and in writing to provide clear direction to the staff.

Initiate preparation of computerized annual Sales Marketing Plan for business traveler marketing and execute plans as outlined, critically examining and adjusting as deemed necessary by current market conditions.

Organize andor attend scheduled Sales Department and related meetings.

Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.

Perform any other job related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

2 years of sales experience with a full service hotel is preferred.
Business travel sales manager experience in the NYC market is a plus.
Strong local contacts and the ability to shift business to a newly opened hotel.
Expert capability managing business intelligence tools.
