SUMMARY:  The Business Development Manager is primarily responsible for teleprospecting new business, setting appointments and conducting site tours to achieve the hotel's revenue goals. S/He will uncover group business and telemarket for new Corporate and SMERF opportunities primarily via telephone. S/He will assist with clients, guests and co-workers to ensure client expectations are met.


The Business Development Manager shall strive to provide exceptional service to both internal and external guests at all times. S/he will be responsible for exemplifying the Hotel's Culture and Portfolio Hotels & Resorts' Core Values.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:



  • 80% of time will be allocated to phone calls establishing a client base of individuals, organizations, associations, social and/or corporate businesses

  • Teleprospect direct inside selling to ensure room night sales and revenue goals are met or exceeded

  • Utlize internet resources and company databases to uncover group business

  • Set, secure and conduct site inspections with potential clients

  • Set off-site presentations for the General Manager with potential clients

  • Respond to client requests in a timely manner

  • Make arrangements for Sales VIP clients

  • Prepare and distribute all Regret and Thank You letters, Amenity Requests and Group Resumes

  • Confirm all details and or/changes of sales contracts

  • Follow up with clients regularly during and after departure to ensure satisfaction and secure future bookings

  • Generate and maintain standard reports and provide adhoc reports as requested

  • Maintain client files and database in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures

  • Keep informed on current industry trends regarding food and beverage, meeting coordination, client service and client business needs

  • Cultivate collaborative, mutually supportive relationships with and among customers, community, sales office, and hotel staff

  • Achieve and track personal sales activity goals

  • Assist in developing and implementing sales plans

  • Follow Sales Office Standards

  • Serve as sales support for the General Manager by qualifying all requests and inquiries

  • Ability to maximize impact, maintain interest, and establish a rapport with your audience when conveying information

  • Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments

  • Comply with all departmental policies, service procedures and standards

  • Maintain postive guest relations at all times

  • Adhere to hotel requirements for guest/employee accidents or injuries and in emergency situations

    Associate is held accountable for all duties of this job and other duties as assigned.


EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:



  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality or related field

  • 1 - 2 years of experience in sales or related field

  • Experience making cold calls

  • Basic math skills

  • Fluency in other languages beneficial

  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English

  • Must have exceptional communication skills

  • Must be able to perform duties in an office setting for extended periods of time

  • Must be able to utilize and speak clearly on a telephone

  • Must have the ability to analyze data and market trends

  • Must be able to accurately follow instructions, both verbally and written

  • Must have proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office

  • Mathematical skills, includin budgeting, prgofit/loss concepts, percentages, and variances are utilized frequently

  • Must be detailed orientated and work well under pressure

  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment

  • Must be a self starter and have the ability to work autonomously

  • Must be professional in appearance and demeanor

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends and holidays

  • Must have the ability to deal effectively and interact well with employees

  • Must have the ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner

  • Possess strong motivational, organizational and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to travel to attend workshops, tradeshows, conventions, etc.

  • Must have a valid Driver's License

  • Must be a United States citizen or possess a valid work permit
