Job Description:

To maintain the highest standards possible for the guest by providing quick, efficient, and professional service to ensure satisfaction. Restock merchandise, keep Bongo Java clean and ensure guest satisfaction.


* Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly.
* Must work well in stressful, high pressure situations.
* Must be effective in handling problems in workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary.
* Responsible for assigned shift, assisting in overall management.
* Supervise and coordinate assigned shift.
* Assist manager in communicating new information and teaching new procedures to all Bongo Java associates.
* Check staff punctuality.
* Complete environmental checklist for dining room.
* Order daily supplies or communicate inventory needs to appropriate management.
* Follow up on established training steps.
* Handle guest comments and complaints.
* Ensure guest satisfaction.
* Communicate with guests and receive feedback.
* Observe, teach, and correct staff’s service.
* Monitor each guest experience.
* Must be able work with and understand financial information and data and basic arithmetic functions.
* To be thoroughly aquatinted with all technical equipment to fully utilize its capabilities and extend efficient service to hotel guests.
* Assist with monthly inventory.
* Maintain a cash bank.
* Verifying guest room numbers for room charges.
* Interact with other departments to ensure guest needs are satisfied.
* Adhere to proper food handling procedures.
* Proper knowledge of equipment use and safety procedures.


* Minimum 6 months experience in a Bongo Java or other coffee house environment required. Previous supervisory experience in a food and beverage environment preferred.
* Previous cash handling and face to face customer service experience required
* Ability to clearly and pleasantly communicate both verbally and in writing in English with guests, management and co-workers
* Ability to accurately and efficiently input information into MICROS
* Ability to handle stressful situations, while maintaining a calm and welcoming demeanor.
* Ability to work cohesively with co-workers both within and outside of your department
* Ability to prioritize, organize and follow up on guest requests and needs in a fast paced environment
* Must be TABC certified.
* Must attend and complete Bongo Java Barista Certification class.
* Must become familiar with all Bongo Java products and methods including Coffee, Espresso, Specialty Drinks and Retail Items
* Able to work with management on special projects.
* Able to set priorities for the Bongo Java team and provide feedback to others that enhances performance.
* Candidate must have proven leadership skills and must be able to direct, develop and motivate staff.
* Ability to teach employees importance of, and how to greet guests and courteously solve requests
* Must be able to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays
* Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance. Requires frequent bending, reaching overhead, and twisting. Must be able to stand or walk for an extended period or for an entire work shift.
