Job Description

Job OverviewThe Regional Vice President of Finance will support the Finance and Accounting functions of a portfolio of assigned properties while acting as a strategic business partner to Property Executive Committee Members and other Regional Team Members.  This position is responsible for optimizing asset value for the assigned portfolio while ensuring that internal controls are in place and financial reporting is accurate and timely.  The ideal candidate will be a bilingual (English & Spanish) team builder and coach, a cultural ambassador and adept at shifting between strategy and tactics.   Essential FunctionsThis position will be a key member of the Two Roads Hospitality Finance Leadership team.  The position will have oversight for a portfolio consisting of properties located in the southern U.S., Puerto Rico and Mexico (subject to change from time to time), with moderate to high travel required.
 
The primary responsibilities include the following:
 
Optimize value for the portfolio of properties by initiating process improvements in conjunction with the property Executive Teams, that will enhance expense management and result in optimal profit flow through.
 
Partner with the Property Executive Committee Members to ensure forecasting processes are optimized and that the properties are achieving forecasting accuracy targets.
 
Re-engineer processes and reporting to assist the properties in obtaining their strategic goals.
 
In conjunction with the Operations Leaders, Property General Managers and Property Directors of Finance, manage and regulate all 2RH internal controls. Review the internal and external audit reports and ensure that corrective actions are implemented.
 
Provide career coaching and counseling to the Directors of Finance. In conjunction with the Property General Managers, employ standardized, individualized evaluations and cooperative goal setting. Work closely with People Services in recruiting, hiring and training for Director of Finance, Controllers and Assistant Director of Finance positions within the assigned portfolio of hotels. Develop career and succession plans for each Director of Finance.
 
Lead 2RH property Directors of Finance to ensure proper fiscal management, timely and accurate reporting and analysis.
 
Develop and nurture the important relationship with the owners and lenders of the properties.  Ensure that the properties are responsive and compliant with required owner reporting and that they respond quickly to questions and requests. The Regional VP Finance will also be a direct resource to owners and lenders and will attend owner meetings on an as needed basis. Ensure compliance with debt and lease requirements. 
 
Participate as a member of the “Opening & Transitions Team” and assist with the transition or disposition of the assigned properties.
 
Conduct regular and thorough financial reviews, including but not limited to: monthly financial operating statements, cash flow reports, monthly forecasts, balance sheets and capital budget expenditures. Analyze the variances and trends as a result of this evaluation. Alert the SVP of Operations and SVP Finance, as deemed necessary on significant variances from budget, forecast and internal control standards.
 
Attain a thorough and detailed understanding of respective property Hotel Management Agreements (HMA), and related debt and ownership contracts and obligations.
 
Provide analysis and feedback to the Property GM and Director of Finance.  Identify areas for potential financial and operational improvement. Coordinate improvements with the team. Lead the initiative to manage trouble shooting for respective property cost controls and revenue enhancements.
 
Ensure that cash flow management is optimized and excess reserves are invested and/or distributed appropriately, based on owner investment needs.
  
Actively participate in the development and review of the annual operating budget, capital expenditure budget and business plans, in conjunction with the property and regional teams. 
 
Assist in the year-end external audit process.  
 
In conjunction with the Performance Optimization Group, provide assistance and necessary support with the annual property valuations, applicable ROI, IRR, acquisition and disposition due diligence and feasibility analysis.
 
 

Job Requirements

  • 5+ years minimum multi property experience in a decentralized independent hotel environment.
  • 10 years minimum previous on-site property Director of Finance experience in full-service properties.
  • Hospitality Experience in Mexico and Puerto Rico preferred.
  • Experience with Oracle ERP and report writing software and/or other ERP systems.
  • Microsoft Office / Excel experience with complicated financial models.
  • Minimum requirement Bachelors degree in Accounting/Finance.
  • MBA, CPA preferred
