Objective / Purpose / Summary: 

The overall objective and purpose of the Bellperson is to provide intuitive service to our guests in order to enhance the total guest experience. This includes, but is not limited to, greeting guests, opening doors, transporting luggage, responding to guest requests, parking cars, providing recommendations for hotel and local area amenities and attractions, and appropriately directing guests.

Supervisory responsibilities for the below mentioned position(s)/department(s)  include interviewing, hiring, training, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; mentoring, rewarding and conducting corrective action(s), addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Essential Duties / Responsibilities / Tasks: .

Primary duties, responsibilities, and tasks include, but are not limited to the following:

  1. Greet and interact with internal and external guests in a warm and friendly manner, using professional verbiage
  2. Open doors for guests entering and exiting the building and provide directions and information
  3. Escort guests to their rooms upon check-in and explain the features of the hotel and guest room
  4. Transport luggage upon check-in and check-out
  5. Inspect cars for damages and notate according to the standard operating procedure
  6. Carefully retrieve and park vehicles
  7. Maintain security of car keys, luggage and guest items 
  8. Respond promptly to questions, concerns and special requests. Follow up to ensure the guest is satisfied
  9. Communicate with departments using the radio and proper etiquette
  10. Maintain integrity of the guests’ privacy, including confidentiality of personal information and key control
  11. Answers the telephone within 3 rings, using the correct salutations and telephone etiquette. Record messages legibly and completely
  12. Maintain knowledge of room types, hotel amenities and features, hours of operation and area attractions
  13. Recommend hotel amenities and services
  14. Log guest requests and concerns according to procedures. Communicate with departments in a timely manner
  15. Proficiently solve problems 
  16. Maintain the cleanliness of front drive and parking garage, including sweeping, shoveling snow, and disposing trash and debris
  17. Maintain a neat and orderly work area at the bell stand, front drive and lobby, including sweeping, mopping, shoveling snow and disposing of trash and debris
  18. Maintain the integrity of Company proprietary information and protect Company assets
  19. Maintain complete knowledge in the use of all job-related office equipment, property management systems and access according to specifications
  20. Deliver welcome letters, amenities, newspapers and packages
  21. Maintains complete knowledge and complies with all hotel and department policies and procedures
  22. Comply with quality assurance expectations and standards
  23. Attend required training and meetings
  24. All other duties as assigned, planned or un-planned

 

Qualifications: Education / Certifications / Work/Industry Experience:

  1. High school diploma or General Education Degree - required
  2. Minimum of 6 months related industry experience – required
  3. Student or graduate of hotel management school - preferred

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities (KSA’s) & Competencies:

  1. Ability to perform all tasks for the guest service position and proficiently use job-related software and property management programs
  2. Possess strong oral, written and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to effectively communicate in the English language
  3. Ability to remain calm in various situations and use sound judgment
  4. Possess a guest service demeanor and outgoing personality with the ability to relate to diverse guests
  5. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedural manuals
  6. Ability to prioritize and multi-task
  7. Possess a valid driver’s license and clean driving record

Work Environment/Conditions:

  • The majority of time will be spent both indoors and outdoors.
  • Candidate must be comfortable working in the lobby and front drive area, with constant noise, inclement weather conditions  and without the use of a private office
  • Overtime is frequently required with or without notice
  • Schedules may vary from week to week based on business demands
