The Downtown Lexington Hilton Hotel, a New Castle Hotels & Resorts property, is currently seeking a Bellperson/Van Driver to join our team.  Illuminating Lexington's skyline, our grand contemporary hotel hosts Lexington's most prominent social and business events - up to 1000 people. Our meeting space features over 20,000 square feet of stylish meeting and event space, including 13 versatile meeting rooms, elegant ballrooms, banquet halls, inviting function spaces, world-class catering and exceptional service.  In addition, the hotel boasts a full service restaurant, high-energy lounge and in room dining.

Position Summary: The primary duties of the Bellperson/Van Driver are to help with the check-in/check-out processes, and to accommodate guests during their stay in a pleasant and efficient manner. He/She will also assist in transportation as necessary

Accountabilities: The Bellperson/Van Driver is responsible for helping guests into and out of the property to the best of his or her ability, and for providing delivery of items to guests on an as needed basis. He/She will also transport guests to and from required destinations as needed.

Job Requirements

Education & Experience:

  • 1 year of experience in a hotel or a related field preferred
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Previous customer service experience required

 

Tools & Equipment:

  • Computer, copier, scanner, telephone, two way radio
  • Keys, guest luggage, bell carts, property vehicle, luggage tags

 

Work Environment:

  • Under variable temperature conditions
  • Under variable noise levels
  • Indoors / outdoors
  • Around chemicals

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects
  • Ability to stand for long hours
  • Ability to work long hours, some back to back shifts as needed
  • Ability to work under variable temperatures and noise levels
  • Near Vision – ability to see details at close range
  • Long hours sometimes required
  • Ability to bend, stretch, twist or reach with your body and arms
  • Must be able to stand and/or walk for lengthy periods of time

Duties & Functions

Essential:

  • Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, service-oriented manner
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with New Castle standards, as required by scheduling that will vary according to the needs of the hotel
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include wearing the proper uniform and nametag when working
  • Comply at all times with New Castle standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations
  • Transfer luggage, trunks, and packages to and from rooms, loading areas, vehicles, or transportation terminals, by hand or using baggage carts
  • Supply guests or travelers with directions, travel information, and other information such as available services and points of interest
  • Receive and mark baggage by completing and attaching claim checks
  • Greet incoming guests and escort them to their rooms
  • Assist physically challenged travelers and other guests with special needs
  • Deliver messages and room service orders, and run errands for guests
  • Explain the operation of room features such as locks, ventilation systems, and televisions
  • Arrange for shipments of baggage, express mail, and parcels by providing weighing and billing services
  • Maintain clean lobbies or entrance areas for travelers or guests
  • Transport guests about premises and local areas, or arrange for transportation
  • Compute and complete charge slips for services rendered and maintain records
  • Pick up and return items for laundry and valet service
  • Open doors
  • Assist with PBX operations at Front Desk on as needed basis
  • Check guest in & out as needed at Front Desk
  • Assist at Front Desk operations as directed by manager/supervisor
  • Ensure guest safety and follow all department SOPs on entering and exiting guest rooms

 

Marginal

  • Answer bell stand telephone
  • Participate in departmental meetings
