Job Description


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Escort incoming hotel guests to rooms.
  • Assist guests with luggage.
  • Luggage shall be delivered to the guestroom within 10 minutes of check-in.
  • Luggage shall be picked up from the guestroom within 10 minutes of the request.
  • Group luggage delivery and pick-up may exceed the 10-minute timeframe, but shall not exceed 30 minutes.
  • Inspect guest's room to ensure that it is in order and that supplies are adequate.
  • The guestroom door shall be opened and the lights turned on.
  • Place the luggage on the luggage racks, and garment bags and loose garments are hung in the closet.
  • Explain the features of the guestroom, such as operation of radio, television, telephone, in-room movie system, etc.
  • Ask the guest if they are familiar with the hotel and inquire whether the following room features should be explained.
  • All guests being "roomed" shall be informed of the following hotel facilities if they are not already familiar: Gift Shop, Business Center, ice machines, vending machines, ATMs, health club, swimming pool and food and beverage outlets such as restaurant and room service - make sure to point out the room service menu, bar and lounge.
  • Explain operation of door locks, lights, heating/cooling system, television/remote control, video check-out, in-room entertainment system and comment card location.
  • Explain in-room amenities such as hair dryer and iron and ironing board.
  • All Club Level and Smart Room guests shall be informed of the specific upgraded amenities as well. Guests shall be informed about the express check-out facilities.
  • Point out emergency exits and room location on the diagram posted on the guestroom door (security plaque). Explain the safety features of the guestroom.
  • Open any connecting doors, if appropriate; otherwise verify that they are locked.
  • Offer to obtain ice.
  • Be able to offer directions within the hotel or neighboring area sites.
  • Bid farewell to the guest.
  • Offer information pertaining to available services and facilities of the hotel, points of interest and entertainment attractions, and have it available to the guest.
  • Limousine service (including airport transfers).
  • Car rental.
  • Theatre information and schedules.
  • Airline tickets - Reservations, purchases, changes and confirmation of flights.
  • Hairdresser / Beauty salon.
  • Massage service.
  • Postage - overnight and regular mail delivery services.

  • Health Club information - massage, personal trainers and leisure activities.

  • Furnish information, make reservations and obtain tickets for guests to social and recreational events or for travel.
  • Supply guests with travel information, such as transportation rates, routes and schedules.
  • Arrange for cleaning, laundering and repair of guests' clothing and other items.
  • Arrange for sending and receiving of packages.
  • Report suspicious behavior of patrons to hotel security personnel.
  • Deliver messages, laundry and run errands.
  • Maintain courtesy van; consisting of washing, cleaning, fueling and all other regular maintenance to include changing the oil.
  • Raise, lower and ensure proper handling of the American flag.
  • Maintain lobby in a clean and tidy manner; this includes but is not limited to ashtrays, trash, seating areas, front doors, floors, etc.
  • Maintain the front port cochere by picking up trash, cleaning oil leaks, shoveling snow, melting ice, hosing off sidewalks, etc.
  • Attend and participate in monthly front desk meetings.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Operate facsimile machine.
  • Operate photocopier.
  • Considerable skill in the use of a calculator to prepare moderately complex mathematical calculations without error.
  • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to read, listen and communicate effectively in English; both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to access and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system.
  • Considerable ability to listen effectively and speak clearly on the telephone in a polite and understandable manner.
  • Ability to file.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with associates, customers and patrons.
  • Must be able to change activities easily and frequently.
  • Requires continual standing and movement throughout the front office area.
  • Hearing and visual ability to observe and detect signs of emergency.
  • Physical activities include standing, talking, and hearing, seeing, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, reaching, handling and bending.
  • Considerable repetitive motion of hands and wrists as related to the use of a computer keyboard.
  • Must be able to lift and carry 20 pounds.
  • Requires continuous talking.
  • Educational Requirements:  High School degree or equivalent.
  • Must be fluent in English.
  • Bilingual helpful.
  • Must have excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must have a clean driving record.
