Position:

The Westin Toronto Airport Hotel currently has one (1) Full-Time position available for Banquet Set-up (Porter) in the Banquets DepartmentThe Banquet set-up is responsible for proper set up, clean and maintain all function rooms, service corridors, storerooms and public function areas in a safe, accident-free manner.

Job Requirements:

  • Read EO and know how to complete a set-up within standards.
  • Set tables in assigned area correctly and uniformly.
  • Correctly and efficiently set up and break down all department functions
  • Use proper in-room clearing and aisle tray break-down buffet or other special food service tables and equipment.
  • Greet and serve guests following guidelines set by the policies and procedures regarding the service of food and beverage.
  • Keep function room area and storage areas clean and neat at all times.
  • Complete assigned tasks by department manager/supervisor.
  • Service/freshen all meeting rooms during breaks. 
  • Assist guests whenever possible, referring all requests which are beyond scope of responsibility immediately to supervisor.
  • Perform periodic deep cleaning of banquet areas.
  • Check electrical hook-ups for proper working order and tape down all exposed cords for equipment in use.
  • Return all equipment not in use to proper storage area in clean condition before the end of each shift.

Skills and Abilities Required:

  • High School or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years hotel banquet food/beverage service.
  • Able to read and communicate effectively in English.
  • Able to lift 20-40lbs, push 50-100lbs, carry up to 50lbs.
  • Bending/Kneeling - ability to bend to lower level cabinets and banquet storage room.  Bend to lift trays.
  • Maneuver in narrow areas and between seated guests.
  • Continually moving at a fast pace
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by customers.
  • Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.
  • Must work well under pressure and be able to prioritize tasks.

Work Schedule:  Must be able to work various shifts including: evenings, days, weekends and holidays, based on needs.
