Job Details

Greet and serve guests in a gracious, professional manner, serve food and beverages to guest in accordance with established standards of service, presentation and sanitation and set up, refresh and breakdown function rooms/areas.


Consistently perform The Doubletree Hotel Company Standards of Service and interact with guests and employees in a professional, gracious, and friendly manner.


Compile all supplies and equipment needed for each function, ensure that all are clean and in good repair, and report any problems to management.


Complete assigned duties with respect to set-up, servicing, breakdown and cleaning of function rooms/areas. This includes moving tables; setting tables with linen, service ware and condiments and clearing same, setting up buffet lines and coffee breaks and break down of same, moving chairs, folding napkins and more.


Serve food and beverages as directed and per established service techniques, and promptly remove dirty dishes as guests complete each course. Pour and replenish beverages. Replenish buffet food items, service ware and napkins.


Explain menu, methods of preparation, and answer any questions the guest(s) may have.


Regularly check on guests throughout the meal, anticipate guest needs and promptly act to resolve any problems or guest complaints. Apprise management of all guest complaints and operational problems, even those that have been resolved.


Carry large and small trays containing food, beverages, coffee pots, pitchers of beverages and service ware through crowded areas.


Adhere to safety, security and sanitation procedures, handle all hotel equipment with care and report all hazards.


Adhere to all regulations regarding the service and handling of alcoholic beverages and adhere to established procedures for discontinuing service to and handling of intoxicated guests.


Attend pre & post-function meetings & monthly departmental meetings.

Communicate all guest issues to management.


Regular attendance in conformance with the standards established by our hotel is essential to the successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.


Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules in response to the business needs of the hotel.


Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with Company, Hotel and Departmental rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of hotel facilities. Employees who violate these rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.


In addition to performing essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions.


Perform general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products in order to adhere to sanitation standards.


Communicate with kitchen on cover counts and any other food-related issues.


Stock service area.


Perform other duties as assigned such as assisting with service in food and beverage outlets.


 


SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY


The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he/she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.


Ability to effectively interact with a wide variety of people in a friendly, gracious manner. Ability to manage multiple tasks often in stressful, fast-paced situations.


Possess basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation, service standards and etiquette. Ability to mix a basic variety of alcoholic drinks.


Knowledge of proper table settings, function room set-ups, service ware and must be able to operate specific food and beverage equipment used in the preparation of beverages and side dishes (ex. coffee).


Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language. Skill level must be sufficient enough to understand and respond to guest requests and inquiries and understand oral and written instructions and product labels.


Ability to remember, and recite menu items and the ability to describe methods of preparation and ingredients in same.


Ability to transport large and small trays weighing up to 50 lbs. through a crowded area on a continuous basis throughout shift.


Ability to stand and walk continuously throughout shift and through crowded areas.


Any combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. High school education preferred.


Experience:       Must be of legal age to serve alcohol. No prior experience required. Prior hospitality or food service experience preferred.


Licenses:          Ability to obtain any government required licenses or certificates.
