Notes and questions 10/18

Action/follow up needed by HR Dept.

Jessica asked about Open Enrollment and said it is coming up soon. She was wondering if it will go ahead as scheduled, or if it will be postponed until the Director of HR replacement starts. She is off next week and doesn't want to miss it. My questions are, when is it scheduled for and how can I assist if it is not being postponed, and if it is being postponed, when would it be rescheduled for, if that date is known?

Questions:

I will be sitting in on the SWIM call with Shawn Friday, but he wanted to know if you will also be signing in to field any site specific questions they may have for us since you were present for the time frame being discussed. If you are unable to, please let me know so Shawn and I can prepare ourselves to answer any questions ahead of time. Additionally, what should I review ahead of time in preparation for the call?

Google Calendar transition

I created a test month for birthdays on Google Calendars, however, the printing of them leaves something to be desired. Unfortunately, the Event titles (name and dept. of the birthdays) get cut off unless I use the smallest of fonts; there is no way to wrap the text of an individual event around to the next line to display the full event title at a larger font. I even researched if a text-wrap workaround was possible for Google Calendar and it is not; there have been complaints about this lack of a feature since 2009! At any rate, I have attached a few examples of how it would print out for you to review, but none of them are as nice as the current calendars that are printed via pwpt. If the department an individual is in is left off and only the name of the individual was entered, the Google print outs would be useful, but at the cost of that loss of information. I still think it is useful to have birthday and anniversary calendars on Google to increase its digital footprint and accessibility by being shared with all associates, so I think I should continue the transition, but unless you think one of the attached variations are acceptable to post or if leaving off the dept is acceptable, continuing to use pwpt for a printed version may be the way to go. Please let me know your thoughts on how you think it is best to proceed.
