The Best Western Gateway Grand Hotel and Conference Center in Gainesville, Florida, is accepting applications for Banquet Manager. The facility has 9710 square feet of meeting space with two ballrooms, two meeting rooms and two board rooms. The ideal candidate will be exceptionally guest oriented, great at motivating, training and guiding their staff to create an unparalleled F&B experience.They will be excellent at detailed planning, organizing and delegating to achieve consistent delivery of great guest experiences. Candidates must have experience in professional banquet management.

The Banquet Manager's purpose is to ensure that events are highly organized and executed, resulting in the complete satisfaction of guests at the event. He/She works closely with the culinary and catering teams to maximize perfection in details with a emphasis on friendly, efficient services. The manager plans for staffing levels, and overseeing the floor during all functions.

Specific duties include:

*Interviewing, hiring, disciplining and firing department employees

*Schedules all banquet staff

*Training supervisors as well as set up staff and servers

*Conducting regularly scheduled department training meetings

*Overseeing details of set up, and service making sure all details are followed by staff

* Ordering replacement equipment, supplies and uniforms

* Takes care of all guest complaints of the banquet department

*Ensure constant communication is maintained between the banquet department and all other departments.

*Attending weekly BEO, executive and stand up meetings

* Conducts monthly China/Glass/Silver inventories

* Work closely with the Restaurant Manager and Food & Beverage Director

*Identify and implement cost and quality control measures

*Complete knowledge of safety and emergency procedures and accident prevention policies

Experience

A minimum of 3 to 5 years in banquet event management. An understanding of food service, beverage service and food and beverage costs and how they relate to the profit of the department, cuisines and mixology. A bachelors college degree in hospitality or event planning preferred. International Meeting Planner certification preferred.
