Wyndham Hotel Group is searching for a Banquet Chef to work at our beautiful Hotel Galvez & Spa property in Galveston, TX.  This position is responsible for assisting the Executive Chef and Executive Sous Chef in culinary operations.
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
  • Manage food production for the restaurant and/or banquets.
  • Monitor food quality and consistency on a daily basis.
  • Provide direction and training to staff by coaching, counseling and providing feedback on job performance.
  • Create a positive environment that sets the expectation for quality food and a neat, clean and organized kitchen.
  • Help plan, coordinate and implement special events and holiday functions.
  • Ensure proper safety and sanitation of all kitchen facilities and equipment.
  • Maintain proper and safe food handling procedures for all staff members at all times.

  • Culinary Degree or equivalent combination of culinary training and/or experience.
  • Ability to execute high volume production.
  • Excellent culinary and food processing skills.
  • Experience in ordering, inventory maintenance, and shrink control.
  • Must possess strong organizational, management, culinary, communication, customer service and  motivational skills.
  • A genuine desire to exceed guest expectations.
  • Ability to supervise, train and cross-train kitchen staff.
  • Must be proficient in all aspects of the Food & Beverage/Hospitality industry control procedures.
  • Proficiency with automated reporting systems including Inventory, Food Cost, Scheduling and Time & Attendance
  • Proficient in general computer knowledge.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Maintain sanitation standards throughout work area.
  • Applicants must already possess legal authorization to work in the United States for consideration.
Physical requirements:
  • Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
  • Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • Ability to stand during entire shift
  • Ability to withstand temperature variations both hot and cold.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
