Job Details

Job OverviewThis position is responsible for leading the Banquet team for all banquet functions, including set-up, service, and breakdown. The Captain ensures that all personnel follow service standards to ensure that each event exceeds the guest’s expectations.Essential Functions
  • Assist Banquet Manager with selection, training, and scheduling of Banquet personnel as needed
  • Oversee all aspects of assigned banquet function activities, ensuring that all areas are properly set and ready for execution at the appointed time
  • Obtain and review Banquet Event Orders, and coordinate activities as needed to ensure timely performance of contracted setup, food preparation, and service
  • Monitor banquet personnel in the performance of their duties
  • Assist in conducting pre-shift and pre-function meetings

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.  Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Management or Sales and Marketing preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year Banquet operations experience required
  • Experience within a full-service boutique or luxury hotel environment preferred
  • Prior Supervisory experience preferred
  • Must display ability to work with general computer operations, including POS software (Micros) as well as events software (Delphi)
  • Experience with web-based communication programs helpful
  • Must be able to communicate professionally in English, both written and verbal
  • Conversational abilities in other languages helpful
  • Ability to display tact and diplomacy in all situations required
  • Must be able to move throughout crowded event locations and kitchen areas
  • Must be able to multi-task and display ability to recognize that the guests’ interests and needs are always primary
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, late-night, weekends and holidays as business dictates
