Support the Manager, Information Technology and internal customers with the operation, enhancement, and problem solving of various software packages. Oversee the installation and enhancement of software packages and hardware in the hotel. This position provides hotel coverage in the absence of the Manager, IT included regular days off, vacation time or other absences. **This position requires the successful applicant to work weekends which may or may not fluctuate with business volumes. HOURS: Applicants MUST be able to work Saturdays & Sundays and other days as needed. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: AVERAGE % OF TIME 50% Maintain, support and enhance software application systems. Coordinate normal maintenance and upgrades to the software. Troubleshoot and solve user problems with software usage and software bugs. Supervise vendors in software or hardware enhancements for reports and operation of the software packages. 20% Assist with the identification, development and implementation of new system applications to satisfy business requirements of the hotel. Advise both users and systems staff in the use of software applications. 20% Oversee the operation and development of interfaces along with any patch updates between the various computer systems. 10% Assists overall hotel in the support of the hardware and operation. 5% Aid Associates of the hotel with the day to day support of computer systems. Other: Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. In addition, attendance at training sessions and meetings may be required. Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with Starwood rules and regulations for the safe and effective operation of the hotel’s facilities. Employees who violate hotel rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities: • 2-3 years of previous systems experience and related to troubleshooting and/or IT customer service experience. This also includes current computer knowledge with various operating systems, and servers. • Previous experience working with Cisco and HP Switches hardware & software will be considered an asset. • Personable, approachable with a keen willingness to support others. • Previous experience working in the hotel industry is considered an asset. • Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to non-technical people. • Hands on knowledge of the procedures used in the installation, modification, maintenance and repair of IT hardware and software. • Ability to recognize, analyze, and effectively solve problems in a timely and organized manner using industry best practices and procedures • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment • Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs.
