The Arrabelle at Vail Square is looking for an Assistant Restaurant Manager in the operation of a full service, luxury four diamond Hotel.  This position is responsible for complete operation in absence of general manager. Duties to include - Monitor staff in adherence to all service standards, standard operating procedures and RockResorts Brand Standards, including inspecting staff for correct grooming and general appearance standards.  Greet all guests in a cordial and timely manner.  Establishing and monitoring side work duty completion. Communicate daily with restaurant manager with regard to special events, house counts, etc.  Assist restaurant manager in conducting menu classes and taste panels.  Communicate to staff all pertinent information in daily line-ups.

Essential Job Functions:

•Ensure that the guest experience is pleasant in regard to atmosphere, service and quality of food and beverage products by adhering to the Resort brand/ performance standards.

•Assist in the selection, training and success of all Tavern on the Square employees.

•Capable of creating a motivational atmosphere and a cohesive team.

•Delegate authority appropriately to staff members and follows up on all duties and issues to ensure timely completion.

•Is actively involved in the operation through daily interaction with both the staff and Resort guests.    

•Demonstrate proactive leadership qualities in both the daily operation of the department as well as in long-term visioning.

•Exhibit a professional demeanor through appearance and by maintaining a positive attitude toward all employees and guests.

•Responsible for the dining room and bar's appearance, consistency of set up, food and beverage service and quality of the experience.

•Coordinate daily pre-shift huddles to educate the staff on resort information and conduct daily training standard. 

•Ensure that all employees are in proper uniform and execute their job according to the Vail/RockResorts brand performance standards.

•Responsible for various administrative tasks including: scheduling to the forecasted business levels,  posting weekly schedules in a timely manner, monitoring weekly payroll, ensuring par levels are maintained and that all equipment is on hand and in excellent condition.  

•Enforce internal cost and labor controls.

•Adhere to the departmental budget and payroll forecasting to lessen the amount of overtime.

•Maintain excellent communication between different departments in the resort and Tavern on the Square.

•Handle disciplinary issues that may arise in a prompt and professional manner according to resort guidelines.

•Oversee the proper and safe use of all equipment.

•Meet with Meeting Planners and Sales/Event Managers as needed to coordinate special menu planning and themed events.

•Responsible for attending numerous Resort wide meetings and communicating all relevant information to the Banquet team.

•Oversees the compliance of state liquor laws and all health regulations.

•Comply with all Resort policies, procedures and standards of operation.


•High school diploma or equivalent. -required

•Previous cash handling experience. -required

•Must be able to operate Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook. -required

•Previous point-of-sales experience. -required

•Must be able to professionally communicate in English, both written and verbal.  Must be able to clearly communicate in-person as well as over the telephone. -required

•Must be able to lift 30 pounds and be stand and walk for up to eight hours. -required

•College degree with emphasis in hotel, restaurant and tourism preferred or adequate experience. -preferred

•Minimum 2 years’ experience in upscale operation, preferably in hotel/resort environment. -preferred 

•Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a supervisory role. -preferred

•Experience with InfoGenesis. -preferred
