The DoubleTree by Hilton Minneapolis Park Place Hotel is searching for an Assistant Chief Engineer to join out team!

GENERAL PURPOSE

Responsible for providing skilled repairs in particular areas that include: Refrigeration, lite plumbing, lite electrical, lite carpentry, HVAC, kitchen equipment. In addition, you will assist the Director Engineering in the operational aspect of the Engineering department.   

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform maintenance and repairs in specialized areas such as refrigeration, plumbing, lite electrical, carpentry, HVAC.

Basic service repairs to Kitchen equipment. Ie: Convection Ovens, Gas ranges, Deep Fryers, Reach in coolers, walk-in cooler centralized refrigeration system, domestic hot water heaters, Central heating and cooling system.

Identifying and troubleshooting issues for either call in service or in house repair of equipment.

Assist in the execution of Capital projects.

Lead special projects as needed.  

Assist in directing work of other in the department.  

Assist with the training of new staff. 

Assist the Director of Engineering with the purchasing of supplies.

OTHER DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Travel required:  Limited, some local parts pick-up.

Hours:  Generally M – F, 7AM - 3:30PM but subject to change occasionally according to department needs. ie: Special overnight projects, help filling in for sick or vacationing staff, emergency call-in for equipment failure, etc.

Ability to drive pickup truck. 

 

Must have advanced knowledge & training/experience with building mechanical systems and controls and the ability to service and repair. Energy management and building maintenance skills required. 

Skills

Excellent hearing required for 2-way radio communications, abnormal equipment operating sounds or alarms, guest requests.

Basic computer operation and data entry with an ability to create or modify log sheets, instructions, etc. in Excel and Word.

Excellent vision required for inspection, maintaining equipment.

Excellent communication skills required to respond to radio calls, interact with staff and guests.

Excellent comprehension and literacy required to read instructions, repair manuals and prints/schematics.

Abilities

Reading electronic schematics for a wide variety of area equipment categories for the purpose of identifying and troubleshooting issues for either call in service or in house repair of equipment. 

Lifting, pushing, pulling and carrying 50lbs occasionally required to perform inspections, service & repairs anywhere in or outside of the property. 

Frequent bending and kneeling required to inspect and repair equipment.

Some extended standing required.

Climbing approximately 90 steps occasionally during 8 hour shift.

Climbing ladders of approximately 10 feet occasionally during 8 hours.

Driving:  Driving Company vehicle required occasionally. 

Education/Formal Training

High school diploma required.

Two years required in trade school or training in building maintenance-operation/service/repairs.

Driver’s license with clean driving record.

           

Experience

Minimum four year’s experience in building maintenance, mechanical, electrical/electronic, Refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, kitchen/laundry, carpentry, domestic hot water heaters and/or heating boilers.

2 year experience in hotel preferred.
