Sodexo's School Services Division is seeking a high energyExecutive ChefforSpotsylvania County Schoolslocated in Fredericksburg, VA.  Spotsylvania County Public Schools serves 30 schools and 23,000 students daily. 


This position would help oversee the schools with 8-10 schools under their direct supervision.  The candidate should have knowledge/experience working with USDA guidelines and commodities.  Prior K-12 experience is preferred. Candidate will work with the dietitian in creating recipes and production records.


Day to day, this role will be responsible for serving the National School Breakfast and Lunch Program, and overseeing cafeteria operations for up to 10 schools.  Specific duties will include supervising front of the house operations as well as the food production staff, purchasing and receiving food and supplies, monitoring inventory and create food related training to staff.


Our ideal candidate will be a self-starter with stellar communication skills and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.  Strong culinary management skills needed to be successful in this position. Experience managing a food service team in an education environment is strongly preferred.  Exceptional client relations and team building skills a must!

Position Summary

Designs, supervises, coordinates and participates in activities of cooks and other kitchen personnel in a small account. This position is recognized as the technical expert, teacher and trainer for other chefs and cooks within the account. Selects and develops recipes and other items for clients. Develops menu, implements and trains HACCP, oversees/purchases food, establishes production levels and inventory controls, interviews and hires new chefs, manages/controls food cost issues and offer solutions. May cook selected items, and plan or price menus. Typically has chefs and cooks reporting to this position.
