Unit Description

Sodexo is seeking an experienced Chef for Allina Mercy Hospital, a 255 bed acute care facility located in the northwestern suburbs of the Minneapolis / St. Paul metro area. The Mercy Campus has been growing for the past several years and the organization is currently undergoing a $60MM capital improvement project that kicked-off in September and will be completed in 2018.  The ideal candidate for this position will have a minimum of 1 year of culinary food service experience, preferably in a healthcare setting and experience with ordering and inventory. Experience with Sodexo's Food Management System (FMS) and Market Connections or similar programs is preferred.  The Chef will manage a team of 10 union front-line staff and will work a schedule that will include some evening shifts and rotating weekends.

 

The team is seeking a dynamic Chef who can partner with the General Manager and other operations personnel to ensure the success of the food production process, the project mentioned above and help to deliver operational excellence in the following categories: 

  • Food Production for Retail and Patient Services
  • Employee Engagement and Staff Development
  • Food / Physical Safety

Position Summary

Responsible for food production in a foodservice operation. May be responsible for one area (i.e., hot foods) or could specialize (i.e., catering). Supervises a staff of hourly associates. May be responsible for food inventory and ordering. May conduct culinary training. Manages the kitchen. Reports to GM or Executive Chef.
