Unit Description

Sodexo is seeking an Environmental Services Custodial Area General Manager to support a network of hospitals in the Northern California area. Relocation is not offered at this time. 


The  Area General Manager will work in cooperation with a full environmental services operational team in areas relating to: daily environmental services operations, improving the patient experience, labor controls, infection control, quality assurance, project management, training, supply management, and implementing the entire Sodexo Unit Operating System.   


The ideal candidate for this position will have continuous custodial / housekeeping Senior management experience in a health care / hospital setting as a Director, knowledge of The Joint Commission and other regulatory agencies, the ability to drive change, the ability to motivate/ develop staff and focus on customer service in a union environment.  The ability to multi-task, teach and train others, be a customer service leader,will able to demonstrate in-depth technical knowledge of Sodexo's Environmental Services operations in the Health-care / Hospital industry, Sodexo programs and systems (TRAKKAR, UOS, Gold Checks, etc) as well as customer and employee relationship skills.  Strong project management, analytical, communications and computer (Excel, Word and Power-Point) skills are needed for this role in conjunction with a comprehensive understanding of Sodexo’s corporate and CARES cultures.  


The Area General Manager will report directly to a District Manager and will work in partnership with other departmental managers in many aspects of daily operations.  Preferred qualifications include prior General Manager experience in contracted food services and experience managing both fee and P&L accounts. Position is based in the Northern California Metro Area with local travel required.

Position Summary

Directs all contract management service operations at a single unit and provides additional resources to at least 2 other nonrelated accounts/units in the same geographic area. Assists DM with sales surveys, training of unit staff, and special projects. Supports and mentors GMs in respective area of responsibility. Manages through managers and is accountable for the contract.
