Oversee servers, bartenders, and barbacks, assigning specific tasks when necessary.
Ensure the staff is in proper uniform, and Event-Ready; 30 minutes prior to event start time.
Communicate with the Event Coordinator and address any questions or concerns that come up before or during service.
Supervise food and beverage service throughout events and ensure quality of service and product.
Direct a team during dinner & beverage service.
Comprehensive knowledge of menu items and dietary restrictions.
Banquet Captain or Hospitality industry experience of at least 3 years.
Customer service experience preferred.
POS (Point of Sales) software understanding preferred.
Ability to work primarily weekends, and a plus if you can work weekdays, nights, and holidays.
Manage regular part-time banquet staff as well as temporary staff in a very busy environment.
High School diploma or equivalent.
Must be able to communicate fluently in English and in a professional manner.
Must have reliable transportation for all shifts.
Physical demands; standing & walking extensively & ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
Customer Service: Must be friendly and courteous to clients and guests.
Attention to Detail: Food & beverage standards, food & beverage set-up and break-down, staff responsibilities, safety, BEO details, timelines, floor plan specifications, etc.
Leadership: Motivate and encourage the FOH team during events, resolving conflicts and ensuring all duties are completed by banquet staff.
Problem-Solving: Able to think quickly and decisively when problems or conflicts arise. Able to delegate proficiently and respectfully.
Communication: Must accurately and comfortably communicate event’s; food & beverage details, staff assignments, & event timeline and adjust to changes when called for,
Stamina: Expect long hours, much of it is on your feet.
