New hotel construction booming at Chicago O'Hare International Airport
New York. San Francisco. Chicago. Rosemont, IL. While one of these towns may not be as well-known as the others, it is an international destination as the home O’Hare International Airport. Since Rosemont was chosen for Chicago's new airport back in 1945, O'Hare quickly grew into one of the busiest airports in the world. The airport itself is beyond huge – it’s larger than 7,200 acres, and is situated in two counties (Cook and DuPage).
O’Hare isn’t just large in sheer acreage. A whopping 875,136 flights went through O’Hare during 2015, making it the second most annual flights in America, after Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International. The hub in Atlanta served a total of 882,497 flights that year, making it the busiest airport in the USA.
All of these flights in and out of O’Hare are not going unnoticed by top hoteliers. Chain hotels are adding new hotels to Rosemont or are upgrading their existing hotels to attract all the travelers. These new hotels are adding jobs to the community, from the construction teams at the beginning of development, to the wide range of jobs once the hotel is open to the public.
The Hampton Inn & Suites Rosemont Chicago O’Hare, located 2.5 miles from O’Hare is a stylish new hotel, a property by Hilton Worldwide. This new hotel offers all the amenities, from free WiFi and a 24-hour fitness center, to a free hot breakfast. Not only does this hotel offer guests a place to sleep, it also offers guests close proximity to Chicago restaurants and local attractions, such as MB Financial Park and the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center. This new hotel is a benefit for weary travelers, and also for local workers in the hotel industry, offering plentiful jobs from housekeepers to sales managers to van drivers, for trips back and forth to O’Hare.
Another hotel new to the area is Hyatt Place Chicago/O’Hare, which strives to offer second-to-none hospitality, along with an indoor pool and fitness center. This hotel offers the Chicagoland industry a range of jobs, from gallery host attendant to folks to work at the Coffee to Cocktails Bar. As with the Hampton Inn & Suites, this hotel also offers 24/7 airport shuttle service, benefiting hotel guests and drivers interested in a corporate job for a renowned company.
Older hotels have gotten a make-over, to compete with the new hotels emerging in Rosemont. The Sheraton Chicago O’Hare Airport Hotel, part of the Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide family, has been recently refreshed with a redesigned lobby and each room now features Sheraton’s signature bedding. The Sheraton also added a sleek “connectivity hub” in the lobby, which offers guests free WiFi, webcams and data ports for laptops, which is a fantastic benefit for both corporate travelers and vacationers alike.
The Westin O’Hare also completed renovations to the hotel, from a refreshed lobby to a new restaurant concept Benchmark Gastropub. This new concept offers “seasonal inspirations”, and has given the area jobs to chefs and all the other employees in a restaurant establishment.
