Restaurateurs in Texas are expected to take on 24,600 new hires this summer, four times the 2009 hiring pace, as the industry rebounds from its recessionary scorching.
Nationwide, restaurants are expected to add 450,000 jobs during the busy summer season, according to National Restaurant Association projections.
That’s up 1 percent from 2011 but 15 percent higher than the 2009 summer recruiting pace, when a fall-off in consumer spending led to a drop in hiring.
