Working Closely in Win-Win Partnerships
Preparing the Qualified Employees of Tomorrow. The Hospitality and Tourism Institute at Prince George's Community College prepares students for a variety of careers in the restaurant, culinary arts, hotel, travel and tourism industries. The college offers associate of applied science degree and certificate programs in Hospitality Services Management and Culinary Arts, customized training programs, and industry credentials such as ServSafe^® and AH&LA EI industry certifications.

Through a generous gift of a $1 million grant from Gaylord Entertainment Company, Prince George's Community College established the Hospitality and Tourism Institute and leveraged the fund to obtain a $2.24 million grant from the U.S. Department of Labor's Community-Based Job Training Grants Initiative. The grant provides tuition assistance for the certificate programs to incumbent workers and individuals in the county that are new to the hospitality industry.

Today, the college is working with restaurants and hospitality businesses in the county. More than 30 businesses, nonprofits, educational partners and government agencies have partnered with the college on the grant to provide internships and job placements.
