Wes Crews
Chief Executive Officer
Wes Crews joined onTargetjobs as Executive Vice President and also serves as CEO of two subsidiaries -- BioSpace and Hcareers. Wes Crews brings 20 years of online services and publishing experience to the Company. Most recently, he served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Infotrieve, which provides information services, online research tools, and electronic laboratory notebook applications to the pharmaceutical, biotech, electronics, and transportation industries.
Prior to Infotrieve, Wes Crews was the Chief Operating Officer at the Gale Group, a subsidiary of media conglomerate The Thomson Company, with responsibility for developing strategic plans and new business initiatives, and managing operational implementation to achieve growth strategies. While at Thomson, he led the integration of the three companies that formed the Gale Group with annual revenues of $350 million and a combined staff of over 1,600 employees. As COO at Gale, Wes Crews directly managed key operational functions, including the editorial, online publishing, technology, customer service and fulfillment groups.
Prior to Gale Group, Wes Crews held senior management positions at industry leading online information services companies including, Executive Vice President, Information Access Company; Senior Vice President and General Manager, Hogan Information Services (First Data Corp.) and Vice President, Corporate Development, DataTimes. Wes Crews received a B.B.A. in Finance from the University of Oklahoma.
Kate Labou
Vice President, Finance
As Vice President Finance, Kate Labou is responsible for managing the company's financial reporting, forecasting, accounting services and internal controls. She joined Hcareers as the Corporate Controller in 2001 and was promoted to her current position in 2005. Kate served on the board of Hcareers from 2002 to 2004 and has been an active member of the executive team since 2002.
Kate has earned a solid reputation for her strong analytical abilities, leadership and creativity. Over the years she has achieved numerous successes, most notably in the areas of financial reporting and re-engineering. Prior to joining Hcareers Kate was employed as Controller of Leisure Canada Inc., and from 1998 to 2000 was the Controller of Triathlon Mapping, a subsidiary of MacDonald, Dettwiler & Associates. While with Triathlon, Kate transitioned the accounting for 3 new acquisitions and implemented a consolidated accounting platform.
Kate holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Carleton University and earned her CA designation in 1987 while articling with Clarkson Gordon in Toronto.
Jim Finn
Vice President, Sales
Jim Finn is known for “out of the box” thinking and outstanding leadership that is the result of demanding the best from himself and bringing the best out in those around him. Before joining Hcareers Jim was President of his own company, Access Marketing International in Vancouver. Jim built this full-service outbound call center/loyalty marketing company serving the leisure industry from the ground up, including developing a progressive Operations Plan which met or exceeded all corporate goals, and building a dynamic, results-driven employee team.
Prior to Access Marketing Jim was Vice President Operations North America and the Caribbean for the US-based Hospitality Marketing Concepts. As an expert team leader Jim developed highly successful managers and revamped marketing and sales teams. His efforts resulted in outstanding profit margins for HMC in Canada, the US and the Middle East.
Before that Jim was Vice President of Operations EMEA based in Nice France, where he oversaw all operations of this premier hospitality-based marketing company, heading up operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Prior to his position in the EMEA Jim rose from General Manager to Vice President of Operations at Hospitality Marketing Concepts. Jim oversaw all Canadian operations and opened their first office in China. Jim was subsequently promoted to Vice President of Operations in the Vancouver office and oversaw all North American operations.
Jim holds a B.A. in Political Science from Memorial University of Newfoundland. He is active in organizing golf tournaments for various charities and is proud to be a Volunteer Coach for Canada’s Minor Hockey Association.
Audrey Olsen
Director, Human Resources
Any organization is only as good as the team that mans it. As Director, Human Resources Audrey Olsen continues to provide strategic human resources leadership and expertise to Hcareers leaders and departments to maximize organizational effectiveness, HR planning, change strategies and performance management. A “people savvy” leader with a track record of achievement in the demanding field of Human Resource Management, her accomplishments include: designing a comprehensive screening and interview process; establishing a people management coaching system with all Hcareers managers; designed and implemented a manual and online performance management system; developed and established an employment policy manual.
Prior to joining Hcareers Audrey served as an HR consultant for the firm of Arlyn Reid, Inc. At Arlyn Reid Audrey assisted various companies by operating in diverse capacities that included Human Resource Consultant; Payroll and Benefits Administrator, and was also the lead recruiter for some large scale job fair projects. Before her tenure at Arlyn Reid, Audrey was the Branch Manager for Friday Personnel and also recruited to supplement the company’s ongoing candidate pool for permanent and temporary placements. As Senior Consultant and Temporary Services Manager for Conlin Personnel Ltd. and Drake Office Overload, Audrey successfully met stringent recruitment and placement goals and implemented the company’s internal reporting and documentation system while building the temporary services business by over 100% for each of these firms.
Audrey holds an Administrative Management Degree from the British Columbia Institute of Technology. She is a member of the Human Resources Association of B.C and holds her designation as a Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP).
Alex Chan
Director, Business Intelligence
Alex Chan brings impeccable analysis skills and proven business acumen from diverse industries to Hcareers. His unparalleled data mining and analysis abilities, coupled with a “big picture”, results-driven management style enabled him to help Hcareers grow 40% in his first year with the company. An expert in the technical field of sales and marketing analysis and CRM strategies, Alex spearheaded an industry segmentation strategy for the retail division of the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) prior to joining Hcareers. While there, he successfully identified $ 1.5 million in additional revenue opportunities for CIBC client management teams and developed the 2006 sales plan for the GIC Deposits & Payments business for 5 market regions.
Before working at CIBC, Alex conducted market analyses on media products and consumer segments for Verizon Information Services (SuperPages.ca). His analysis greatly enabled the company to exceed its corporate growth target for 3 consecutive years. Alex was also essential in helping company executives strategically manage a 300-person sales force and diverse product portfolio. Prior to joining Verizon Information Services Alex was a business consultant at Andersen LLP. His project roles included support for a restructuring initiative that yielded a net savings of $13 million for a Global 500 manufacturer client, design of an Activity-Based Costing framework for the provincial utility company, and much more.
Alex wields an impressive arsenal of industry training, including extensive experience with top-rated technology tools. He is passionate about keeping current with new technology and his global focus ensures that Hcareers stakeholders will continue to benefit from his expertise. Alex holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of British Columbia and a Master of Business Administration from McGill University. He has been active in his local community, volunteering for the Red Cross, Junior Achievement of BC, Vancouver General Hospital and SUCCESS.
