Job Description
Targeted start date is January 4, 2013.
The Convention Services Manager manages the operation of
group activity in the hotel as assigned by the Director
of Convention Services and serves the primary logistical
liaison between groups and all operational hotel
departments.
Essential Functions:
* Configure programs from clients to fit the meeting
space in the most efficient manner possible,
maximizing the selling potential of the property.
* Responsible for monitoring and revisign group room
blocks and pickup to maximize room inventory
* Communicate requirements of clients to all hotel
departments through convention resumes, banquet
event orders, pre-convention meetings with clients,
internal departmental meetings, and daily banquet
event order meetings.
* Forecast banquet food and beverage revenues for
respective groups withing corporate standard of 5%
variance
* Increase food and beverage revenue through upselling
* Be present at the start of all functions to ensure
that client is satisfied
* Maintain professional appearance and attitude at all
times
* Professionally represent the department and the
hotel by participating in and or conducting client
and industry functions (site inspections, pre and
post convention meetings, client entertaining etc.)
* Develop and maintain positive relationships with
vendors and suppliers who provide services to the
convention groups and to the hotel.
* Follow through toinsure all meeting arrangements
discussed meet specifications.
Job Requirements
* Ideal candidate will have excellent communication
skills both verbal and written, and strong
organization skills.
* Three to five years of previous experience,
preferable in a like property.
* Strong food and beverage background
* Strong PC skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office
based applications.
* Must work weekends and holidays as business demands
* Thorough knowledge of hotel rooms and Food &
Beverage operations, emphasis on reservations and
front office a plus.
