| Job Description: | HITS, Inc., a special events management company specializing in some of the world's most renown, elite sporting events, is the leading equestrian show management company in the United States for hunter/jumper competitions and just last year created a successful new division focused on triathlon/endurance events.
HITS has opened an exciting new luxury hotel and restaurant property located near its headquarters in the Hudson Valley Village of Saugerties, New York. Diamond Mills Hotel, a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, is a 30-room boutique hotel with a banquet facility that accommodates up to 400 seated guests. The Tavern at Diamond Mills offers the cuisine of CIA Alum, Chef Giuseppe Napoli and offers a grand terrace overlooking the Esopus Creek Waterfall. During this exciting entrepreneurial expansion, HITS now seeks the talents of a polished, savvy PR specialist to help drive the success of Diamond Mills, the new luxury hotel, restaurant and special events business. This addition to the Marketing Team will provide support to PR endeavors for the triathlon project and equine business as needed. Ideal candidate will have 3+ years of PR Agency experience and be familiar with hospitality and food & beverage clients. Knowledge of triathlon/endurance and/or equestrian sports a plus. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: * Maintains and strengthens hotel's reputation and exposure through strategic PR campaign planning and implementation * Conducts proactive media outreach to secure print, TV, radio and online coverage for the property, including: Hotel, Tavern, Weddings, Group Business and Leisure Travel Packages * Media outreach includes writing and distributing press releases, media alerts and other press kit materials * Maintains photo libraries and press kit materials * Ability to meet and/or exceed monthly/annual PR goals * Works with full marketing team on company-wide initiatives and messages * Works closely with food & beverage team to develop key media storylines and pitches * Creates and manages multiple media databases * Develops relationships with key local, regional, national and international media * Ability to perform and assist with property spokesperson duties when necessary and liaise with the media * Ability to perform and assist with crisis response campaigns * Ability to coordinate on-site TV/Video and photo shoots when relating to publicity * Hosts all press trips and media, including journalist site inspections * Represents hotel at media / community events when appropriate * Works with Director of Marketing and extended team on hotel marketing messages and social media |
| Job Requirements: | * Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism or English
* 3+ years PR agency experience * Experience with Hospitality/ Food & Beverage Industry * Strong written and verbal communication skills * Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, including Excel and PowerPoint * Knowledge of Media software a plus * Knowledge of AP Style guidelines * Must be an organized, independent worker/ self starter with a flexible sensibility to the ever-changing demands of event work * Must be creative and possess a positive attitude * Must be a team player and possess the ability to work with multiple departments * Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities * Professional presentation and attire * Relocation costs will not be covered.
