Job Description
Human Resources Director
FLSA Designation - Exempt
Position reports to - General Manager
Principal Responsibilities and Position Purpose: Assist in maximizing employee productivity and achievement of customer service objectives for the Hotel by recruiting, processing and training employees in accordance with federal, state, and Hotel policies. Enhance the hotels human resources capabilities by planning, implementing and evaluating employee relations and human resources policies, programs and practices.
Essential Functions:
* Assist associates with HR related questions/inquiries. Provide employee counseling as necessary. Address problems as they arise, reach a solution or bring to the attention of the proper authority when necessary.
* Develop HR strategies and administer HR policies and procedures.
* Post open positions internally and on specified internet job sites.
* Accept applications and pre-screen candidates and administer drug testing program, ensure all forms and files are complete and accurate and that new hires are scheduled for new hire orientation. Ensure employees have proper placement on the payroll.
* Participate in and/or monitor all employee disciplinary discussions and procedures to ensure that the rights of the hotel and the employee are being protected.
* Create employee morale incentives; oversee the employee working environment to ensure it is clean, safe and free from harassment and discrimination.
* Ensure brand and company training goals are met. Conduct needs analysis, develop, implement and monitor training programs and materials.
* Assist in the coordination of wage and performance reviews to ensure compliance with law, payroll and cost control; be knowledgeable of all contracts and regulations affecting employees and/or Hotel.
* File all Human Resources department records as required, create and maintain personnel folders.
* Update and maintain OSHA log for Worker's Compensation Insurance incidents, file data into individual incident folders and process claim online. Maintain open communication with workers compensation clinic staff.
* Ensure the Hotel is in compliance with contracts, labor laws, federal, state and OSHA regulations, including reporting requirements.
* Create or process reports for various benefits, workers compensation, garnishments and other deductions, respond to all unemployment claims and ensure timely follow up.
* Double check I-9's for completeness, maintains separate binder of I-9's for existing employees, and a binder for terminated employees.
* Conduct wage and salary surveys.
* Assist in preparation of monthly turnover report.
* Ensure employee adherence to all Hotel policies. Any deviation of Hotel policy by staff must be corrected and/or reported to the General Manager and Planning Committee member involved.
* Performance of other duties requested by the Controller, Executive Committee Member, Manager on Duty, or General Manager.

* Must be organized and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

* Excellent verbal skills. Ability to read, write and speak English language to communicate effectively.
* Clear understanding of compensation systems and payroll (ADP, Payforce, Timesaver are preferred).
Education: B.A. or above in Human Resources preferred. At least two years of college or university in Human Resources, Business or Hotel Administration or a combination of education
