Description
Summary:
The Maintenance Shift Manager is responsible for day-to-day supervising of maintenance engineers and assigning specific maintenance work. This is a non-exempt position and typically reports to the Operations Manager, depending on local requirements.
Essential Functions:
* Manages and assigns duties to maintenance engineers
* Recruits and hires additional maintenance engineers as positions become available
* Manages and follows-up with outside mechanical / service / plumbing / electrical / specialty contractors
* Ensures all repairs and preventative maintenance initiatives are on time and completed satisfactorily to HMSHost standards
* Enforces HMSHost policies and product, service, quality, equipment, and operational standards
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Work Environment:
* Requires a Bachelor's degree or Tech School credential
* Requires 5+ years related supervisory experience
* Requires knowledge of the following trades: landscaping (where applicable), small and heavy appliance repair, HVAC, electrical, plumbing and carpentry; certificate of completion of courses in these trades preferred
* Requires a clean driving record; ability to pass HMSHost MVR background check required
* Requires the ability to stand for long periods of time
* Requires the ability to bend, and twist to perform normal job functions
* Requires the ability to lift and maneuver items weighing 80lbs
* Requires the ability to perform tasks while on a ladder
* Requires the ability to be exposed to various climates from extreme heat to extreme cold
* Requires the ability to operate equipment that requires continual and repetitive hand and arm motions
* Demonstrates willingness to do hands on work, supervise a team, delegation and issue resolution skills and the ability to multi-task
* Requires the ability to speak, read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and policy documents, as well as converse comfortably with individuals
